The 110-room upscale Constantinou Bros Asimina Suites Hotel is an adult-only resort on a private rocky beach with two large outdoor pools plus a heated indoor pool. Sophisticated amenities include a full-service spa, a large fitness center, and three restaurants -- plus thoughtful touches such as staff passing out frozen fruit by the pool. It's worth comparing rates with the Louis King Jason hotel, which has more modern rooms but is a 10-minute walk to the beach.

Olympic Lagoon Resort Paphos is an upscale all-inclusive resort located right on the beach in Paphos, not far from the city's well-known archaeological attractions. The 276 rooms here are bright and modern, with marble bathrooms and furnished balconies, and some room types feature four-poster beds. There are tons of amenities for families and couples alike, including a couple of kids' clubs for different age groups, five gorgeous lagoon pools (one with a Mayan temple feature and a waterslide), and dining options that run the gamut from Italian to Asian to Cypriote. There's also an adult-only wing with its own dedicated pool. Guests who are not staying in adult-only rooms only get access to the family-friendly areas, even if they've left their kids at one of the kids' clubs. Families should compare rates at King Evelthon Beach Hotel & Resort, which has its own water park.

Situated right on the Mediterranean, just south of the heart of Paphos, Louis Imperial Beach is a three-and-a-half-pearl resort hotel that's particularly popular with British package tourists. The 239 rooms were all remodeled in 2012 and feature furnished balconies, many with views out over the massive pool and to the seashore beyond. There's plenty going on here, including buffet and a la carte restaurants, daytime and evening entertainment, a spa, a fitness center, and indoor and outdoor pools, including one that's strictly for adults. There's also a splash park, a kids' wading pool, and a kids' club. Note that during the busy summer months, all guests are required to book the all-inclusive option. If that's a deal-breaker, check out the nearby sister hotel, Louis Ledra for bed-and-breakfast and half-board options all summer.  

Paphinia Sea View Apartments is a two-and-a-half-pearl apartment hotel with a fantastic location overlooking the Municipal Baths and the main boardwalk in the touristy hub of Paphos. All of the units here are apartment-style, with full kitchens complete with washers/dryers, four-burner stoves, and microwaves. All apartments have large balconies with either full or partial sea views. While the self-catering facilities and excellent location keep regular visitors (mostly older British couples) coming back here year after year, there's not much in terms of amenities and even basics such as Wi-Fi and on-site parking cost extra. Note that credit cards aren't accepted. Travelers in search of a place that has a pool and accepts credit cards, may want to consider Daphne Hotel Apartments instead. 

The 208-room upper-middle-range Constantinou Bros Athena Royal Beach Hotel is an adult-only property with all-inclusive packages on a private (but rocky) beach. Facilities includes three outdoor swimming pools, multiple restaurants and bars, spa and hair salon, tennis, and an extensive indoor and outdoor green bowling facility. Though rooms are homey and have coffee- and tea-making facilities, flat-screen TVs, and balconies -- some with lovely ocean views -- decor and particularly bathrooms are dated. The hotel is conveniently located for exploring the island's sights, but old-fashioned furnishings throughout is certainly a downside. For a beachfront hotel with more modern style, consider the nearby Amphora Hotel & Suites.

The four-pearl Sentido Thalassa Coral Bay is a quiet beachfront hotel just north of Paphos. All of the 100 rooms have views out over the sea and feature soft decor and furnished balconies. While the hotel does offer a meeting room, amenities are largely geared toward leisure travelers and include a lovely spa with free steam and sauna facilities, indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness center, and direct access to a sandy beach with lounge chairs and a beach bar. There are also two on-site restaurants, one with show cooking and themed nights, the other with a la carte fine dining. All-inclusive rates are available. As this is an adult-only property, travelers with kids should cross it off their list, and instead look into staying at the family-friendly Coral Beach Hotel Paphos, located right next door.

The 278-room, three-and-a-half-pearl Azia Resort & Spa is a humble seaside property that attracts both families and couples. Rooms feature mountain or sea views from balconies, and while some are contemporary, others have a slightly dated cottage-like vibe. While the resort has a sandy area on the water, you can't swim here -- the beach is a five-minute walk away. Alternatively, there's an outdoor pool overlooking the sea with a kiddy pool and a swim-up bar. All-inclusive rates are available at the multiple themed buffets and a la carte restaurants, though restrictions can be a nuisance. A modern gym, spa, and kids' and teens' clubs keep everyone active, and there's live entertainment as well. Check out Louis Imperial Beach for something closer to town, though it's slightly more dated.

Helios Bay Hotel is a three-pearl beachfront apartment hotel featuring 68 units that range from studios to two-bedroom villas. All rooms have kitchens, and while the apartments are a bit on the basic side in terms of decor, the Villas are sleek and feature gorgeous dark interiors and large terraces. Standout features include a large outdoor pool area with a shaded pool bar separated from the seafront promenade by a large expanse of grassy lawns with a kids' playground and a handful of lounge chairs. There's also a dated fitness center, a sauna, table tennis, and a pool table. While there's no all-inclusive option, all three meals are available for a fee and breakfast is served buffet style. Travelers on a budget may want to also consider the nearby Hilltop Gardens Hotel Apartments, which are a little cheaper but not on the beach. 

Leonardo Plaza Cypria Maris Beach Hotel & Spa is a four-pearl, adult-only resort hotel located right on the beach in the southern hotel strip of Paphos. The 240 rooms vary in size, but all have similar amenities, nautical turquoise accents, and furnished balconies with views of the sea in most. Features include multiple indoor and outdoor pools -- including a salinity pool (for a fee) that's good for achey joints -- along with a spa complete with fish pedicures. Dining options include a couple of buffet restaurants with a great selection, along with Japanese and Greek a la carte options. Only buffet restaurants are included in the optional all-inclusive package. Note that guests must be 16 years old to stay here, so families should check rates next door at the SENTIDO Cypria Bay. 

Cynthiana Beach Hotel is a three-pearl property located on the top of a peninsula overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The 230 rooms here are simply furnished but most have gorgeous views out over the sea. While Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel, coffee- and tea-making facilities and mini-fridges cost extra in lower room categories. Facilities include a gorgeous beach with a swimming area partially sectioned off from the sea by a rocky outcropping, plus a large lagoon pool, a second smaller pool (for guests staying in a select wing), multiple restaurants with buffets offering high quality food (with allergens clearly marked). There's also a fitness center, a game area, and a playground. Travelers may also want to consider Queen's Bay Hotel, which offers similar rates and is located just a few minute's drive down the coast. 

Straddling an outlet overlooking the Mediterranean Sea just north of central Paphos, Queen's Bay Hotel is a mid-range resort hotel that attracts mostly Brits and Russians looking to relax. The rooms here are on the simple side and while they've got comfortable beds and largish balconies, they could do with some soundproofing. It's the facilities that draw in guests here, particularly the large outdoor pool with sea views and the cliff-facing beach with its own beach bar. There's also a spa, an indoor pool, a minuscule gym, and a gift shop, plus a couple of decent all-inclusive restaurants. Travelers should also consider the Cynthiana Beach Hotel just a few minute's drive down the coast, which offers amazing views and has its own rocked-in lagoon area for swimming.

Aquamare Beach Hotel & Spa is a three-and-a-half pearl all-inclusive optional resort located right on the beach, a short drive from the heart of Paphos. There are 147 rooms and suites in total, all with furnished balconies and minibars, but while Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel, it costs extra in rooms. Facilities include a fitness center and a spa with 24 treatment rooms and a ton of options, from facials to massages, plus lots for kids, including a playground, a splash pool, and a game room. Travelers may want to compare rates and amenities at Louis Imperial Beach just up the coast, which offers free Wi-Fi and a mix of family-friendly and adult-only facilities.

Note that Aquamare Beach Hotel & Spa is closed for renovations during the winter of 2017 and will reopen in May of 2018. 

The 95-room Amphora Hotel & Suites is an upscale property that emphasizes minimalist style. Situated on a private beach, the resort is surrounded by expansive green lawns and gorgeous sea views. The guest rooms and common areas are spare but not plain, although some travelers might find them too coolly clinical. Facilities include an outdoor pool, a gym and sauna, and tennis court, but the beach is the primary draw here. The main restaurant serves local specialties, while a beachfront bar and cafe is open seasonally. There are a kids' pool and some playground equipment, but no organized activities for children. Travelers seeking a more active vacation -- especially those with kids in tow -- might want to consider the nearby Louis Phaethon Beach, which has a beach, water park, and a much larger pool area.
