The Pearl Resort
Queens Road

The upscale, 210-room Pearl Resort sits on Fiji's Coral Coast, along both a private beach and Pacific Harbour Marina. The scenic locale faces Beqa Island -- a popular spot for day trips and uncaged shark diving -- and it provides easy access to Suva, Fiji's capital. Rooms have mini-fridges and flat-screen TVs, but those in the old wing show wear and tear, so it's worth upgrading to the modern wing. Hotel features include an outdoor pool, full-service spa, water sports, and an 18-hole golf course. The four restaurants are pricey -- especially Seduce for romantic splurges -- but free buffet breakfasts help make up for it. The nearby Uprising Beach Resort has cheaper dining and a more laid-back vibe, but rooms aren't as contemporary.

Nanuku
11 Nanuku Drive

Part of the elite Auberge Resorts group, this five-pearl all-inclusive has 14 villas and suites on three acres of Fiji's Coral Coast. Families and couples can spread out on the beach and infinity pool, or take advantage of water sports, daily yoga, the wellness center, and cultural excursions organized by a standout staff. The spacious units are elegantly designed, equipped with their own decks and sleek bathrooms, plus many have private pools. Guests are also assigned a personal butler and nanny to help with organizing activities and looking after children. The bar and restaurant offers flexible meal times and plenty of options for private dining. Prepare to spend a pretty penny for the experience, though. Romantics may prefer the more intimate, couples-only Tadrai Island Resort, but rates are higher.

Uprising Beach Resort
Beach Rd

The mid-range Uprising Beach Resort is a laid-back property situated on a beautiful section of the Coral Coast. There are 23 contemporary villas and bures -- some along the beach -- that have patios and open-air showers (bring the bug spray), while two budget-friendly dorms are available for groups. The lively restaurant and bar uses produce from the vegetable garden, and free breakfast is served daily. Beach volleyball and non-motorized water sports are free, plus guests may get to see one of Fiji's rugby teams (frequent guests) practicing. Note that minor maintenance issues are possible and Wi-Fi is only free during happy hour. The nearby Pearl Resort has more modern rooms and similar rates.

Naviti Resort
Queens Road

The 220-room Naviti Resort is a popular mid-range choice for families and wedding groups who tend to opt for the all-inclusive package. Located two hours from the airport, it sits on a huge stretch of waterfront -- though the beach itself is rather narrow. The big outdoor pool has a swim-up bar and hot tub, plus the resort offers free non-motorized water sports and snorkeling trips. Pleasant rooms have tea- and coffee-making facilities, mini-fridges, and flat-screen TVs, as well as furnished balconies or patios. Other facilities include the spa, nine-hole golf course, and kids' club, but Wi-Fi is limited to an hour per day in reception. The buffet and a la carte restaurants receive solid reviews, and the all-inclusive route is a good value. Couples may prefer the more peaceful and upscale Pearl Resort.

The Warwick Fiji
Queen's Road, Via Queens Highway, Korolevu

This four-pearl, 250-room Warwick on Fiji’s Coral Coast has a prime beach setting that attracts a mix of families and couples. Modern rooms aren't a highlight, but they have bright textiles, flat-screen TVs, and balconies (though those on upper floors can feel cramped). Guests have access to two pools -- one of which is adult-only and the other featuring a swim-up bar -- as well as a kids' club, 18-hole mini golf course, and tennis courts. Also available are a spa, kayaks, snorkeling, and daily activities for both kids and adults. Dining options consist of seven bars and five restaurants, including the splurge-worthy Wicked Walu. The resort is showing a bit of age and food prices add up quickly, so it may be worth checking out Warwick's nearby sister property, Naviti, which has slightly cheaper rates.

Octopus Resort
Likuliku Bay

Octopus Resort is a three-pearl, 30-room property that appeals to many types of travelers. This private island resort is located on a tiny island in FIji’s Yasawas chain, and offers a paradisiacal location, nice amenities, and excellent all-inclusive dining for fairly reasonable rates. Octopus has private bures with authentic Fijian decor, as well as dormitory-style rooms with shared bathrooms. Because of this, guests run the gamut, from honeymooners to backpackers to families with children. Features include a beachfront bar, a small pool and outdoor communal space, a full-service spa, and an outdoor yoga studio. Though staff members create comprehensive schedules of weekly activities, some travelers may find island life a bit isolating. Families and honeymooners looking for something a bit more upscale should check out Octopus’ sister property, Paradise Cove Resort, which is pricier but has nicer rooms and more amenities.

Naveria Heights Lodge
Naveria

Located on a massive hill above Savusavu harbor, Naveria Heights Lodge is a charming boutique hotel with postcard-worthy views. The four-pearl property has four individually decorated rooms, an outdoor plunge pool, and a relaxed communal living space. The owner and her small staff prepare delicious daily breakfasts for guests and are happy to arrange local activities and excursions. Unfortunately, the hotel’s location atop a steep hill means nothing is within walking distance, and guests have to rely on staff members to drive them up and down the harrowing road that leads to the property. Nearby Daku Resort is larger and has more on-site amenities, but is farther from town and lacks Naveria’s intimate boutique feeling.

Wyndham Resort Denarau Island
Narewa Road, Nadi

The upper-middle-range Wyndham Resort Denarau Island has stellar ocean views and a fun vibe that's best suited to families and groups. Since it opened in 2000, there have been three stages of development to include 201 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments with fully equipped kitchens, dining areas, and washer/dryers. Guests can snag sun loungers along a scenic though narrow waterfront, or stake their claim at two outdoor pools (one that is adult-only). There are also a kids' club, fitness center, a slew of water sports, and two restaurants for those who don't want to cook. However older units are less modern and showing age, while rooms by the pool can suffer from noise. It's worth comparing rates with the Radisson Blu next door, which has a huge pool complex and more on-site dining options.

Radisson Blu Resort Fiji Denarau Island
Resort Drive

This 278-room upscale hotel -- on the man-made island of Denarau -- opened in 2008 and was refurbished in 2015. It boasts great bars and restaurants (some of the best on the island), including a gourmet Thai and adult-only restaurant. Simple but contemporary rooms come with flat-screen TVs, DVD players, minibars, and furnished balconies. The one- and two-bedroom suites also have living rooms, kitchenettes, and washer/dryers. Pretty grounds offer five lagoon–style pools, a swim-up bar, a waterslide for kids, and romantic daybeds. Other amenities include a kids' club, a day spa, free Wi-Fi, and nightly entertainment. Part of the beach has a rocky barrier, but that's typical for the island. The apartment-style rooms at the neighboring Wyndham Resort are a bit more stylish, so it's worth comparing rates.

Sheraton Fiji Resort
Denarau Island South, Nadi

This popular, four-pearl beachfront resort has 297 rooms built along an attractive corner of Denarau Island with sunset views -- just 20 minutes from Nadi airport. Facilities include a huge interconnected waterfront area, three restaurants, and kids' club, plus access to all the amenities at two adjacent sister properties. If that's not enough, there's an extensive spa, 18-hole golf course, and 10 tennis courts. Five contemporary room types come with comfy beds, balconies, and rainfall showers, but those interested in fully equipped kitchens should consider the neighboring Sheraton Denarau Villas
