The Leela Palace New Delhi

New Delhi, National Capital Territory of Delhi, India

Among Delhi's most popular five-pearl hotels, and easily one of the most opulent, The Leela Palace New Delhi attracts business travelers and tourists alike with its luxurious interiors and convenient South Delhi location. The look is regal-done-right, with lots of polished marble and elegant dark tones throughout the property. The 254 rooms and suites all have enormous marble bathrooms, and many suites include private plunge pools and butler service. Amenities here are top-of-the-line and include fine-dining restaurants serving Indian and Franco-Italian food, a beautiful rooftop infinity pool with city views, and a luxury spa with a huge array of treatments. Travelers looking for something more central and with easy metro access may want to compare rates at the Lalit, a luxury property in Central Delhi's Connaught Place.

ITC Maurya, a Luxury Collection Hotel, New Delhi

New Delhi, National Capital Territory of Delhi, India

In the heart of Delhi's Diplomatic Enclave, a short drive from the U.S. Embassy, the ITC Maurya is a sprawling luxury business hotel with multiple wings. Some of the 438 rooms are allergen-friendly and come with air filters, and there's an entire floor of rooms just for women. All rooms have contemporary, elegant decor and beautiful marble bathrooms. The hotel is primarily aimed at business guests, with 11 meeting spaces, a high-end gym, and a large pool, but there are also services for families, such as rollaway beds, cribs, and babysitting. The hotel also has a number of excellent restaurants and is home to Bukhara, which serves rich subcontinental cuisine and has hosted many a celebrity and statesman. Travelers may want to compare rates at the Taj Palace, another luxury property right next door.

Taj Palace, New Delhi

New Delhi, National Capital Territory of Delhi, India

The Taj Palace Hotel is a beautiful 444-room luxury property located in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi's Diplomatic Enclave. Rooms and suites are elegant, with beautiful linens and artwork, and deluxe marble bathrooms with separate walk-in showers and soaking tubs. The Taj is also home to a few of Delhi's finest restaurants, including a chic Vietnamese spot and an Old-World European restaurant -- Orient Express -- designed to resemble the interior of a classic train car. There are also a huge pool, a high-end spa, and a 24-hour fitness center with modern equipment, plus meeting and event space for up to 1,000 people. Many guests prefer it to the similarly priced ITC Maurya right next door, and features here are more impressive overall -- though ITC has more impressive dining (Bukhara is world renowned).

4

Maidens Hotel

New Delhi, National Capital Territory of Delhi, India

Part of the Heritage Hotels brand, the four-pearl Maidens offers historic charm and a tranquil environment slightly removed from the center of New Delhi. The well-maintained property's design and decor throughout the 55 spacious rooms, two restaurants, bar, and landscaped grounds reflect distinct British colonial influences. The gym has updated equipment and guests love the buffet breakfast and free poolside refreshments, but Wi-Fi comes with fees. The peaceful vibe also has the downside of not being within walking distance from most tourist sites, though there’s a metro station nearby and chauffeur service is available to several attractions. Guests who want a chain hotel experience in a more central location may prefer the Radisson Blu Marina Connaught Place.

Shangri-La’s Eros Hotel

New Delhi, National Capital Territory of Delhi, India

With a prime location in Central Delhi near both Connaught Place and India Gate, Shangri-La's Eros Hotel is a luxury option offering easy access to central attractions and metro stations. The 320 rooms and suites are elegant but not stuffy, with dark-wood floors and furnishings, and subtle gold-hued decor. Features include three restaurants offering Italian, Chinese, Indian, and Western fare, plus a tea lounge with Indian street food, a bar, and a sprawling outdoor pool surrounded by greenery. There's also a ballroom that can be split into four separate meeting rooms, but those looking for a hotel with more extensive meeting spaces may be better off trying the similarly priced Le Meridien just next door.

6

Taj Mahal Hotel

New Delhi, National Capital Territory of Delhi, India

The Taj Mahal is a four-pearl, 292-room hotel with elegantly classic decor and acres of landscaped gardens. It has a prime location in the leafy heart of New Delhi, close to central business and entertainment districts. Rooms are spacious, if a little old-fashioned, and all have king-size beds, air-conditioning, deep-soaking tubs, and pleasant views of the city, though details like button-controlled panels are a bit dated. The hotel is packed with resort-style amenities including an outdoor pool, full-service spa, modern fitness center, and multiple dining options including an excellent Japanese restaurant and 24-hour international eatery. The hotel attracts business travelers and tourists alike, with a 24-hour business center and free Wi-Fi throughout. Travelers might also like The Lodhi, an ultra-contemporary luxury hotel which adds three tennis courts and two squash courts.

The Roseate

New Delhi, National Capital Territory of Delhi, India

The Dusit Devarana New Delhi is an elegant luxury resort near the airport, though this 50-room boutique property feels secluded and peaceful. Perhaps that's owed to the massive grassy lawns and a variety of serene spaces, including a gorgeous luxury spa with Ayurvedic treatments and all sorts of massages. Each of the stylish rooms have open layouts, with large soaking tubs right in the rooms, and some have private terraces that look out onto the hotel's long swimming pool. While it's certainly more peaceful than the typical Delhi luxury property, its location is removed from local attractions and the Delhi Metro. This can be inconvenient for tourists, especially in light of Delhi's consistently nightmarish traffic. Guests wanting something equally high-end within the city should consider the Taj Palace Hotel instead.

8

The Lodhi

New Delhi, National Capital Territory of Delhi, India

The Lodhi is an elegant, ultra-contemporary luxury hotel on Central Delhi's moneyed Lodhi Road, right across from the Delhi Golf Course. All 40 rooms here have private plunge pools, and those on higher floors have beautiful city views, many with Humayun's Tomb in the distance. Amenities are excellent, and include a lovely spa with Turkish baths, a beauty salon, a lap pool, three tennis courts, and an extensive gym with personal trainers and high-end equipment. The restaurants get rave reviews for their cuisine, though they do close for private events not infrequently. Travelers may want to compare rates and amenities at the five-pearl Oberoi just down the street, which has a bit more quintessentially Indian ambience and better business facilities.

The Lalit New Delhi

New Delhi, National Capital Territory of Delhi, India

The Lalit New Delhi is a 461-room luxury hotel that attracts business travelers and tourists alike, thanks largely to its myriad facilities and excellent Connaught Place location. Rooms here are spacious and luxurious, and while the sleek, businesslike interiors lack any real wow factor, the large marble bathrooms -- many with deep soaking tubs -- are impressive. Features abound here and include multiple meeting rooms, an excellent luxury spa, a gym with high-tech equipment, and multiple restaurants serving cuisine from around the world. The hotel is also home to Kitty Su, arguably the capital's swankiest night club. Travelers looking for something with a bit more historic ambience and less of a party scene may want to compare rates at the historic Imperial Hotel nearby.

10

The Claridges New Delhi

New Delhi, National Capital Territory of Delhi, India

The Claridges New Delhi is a four-pearl business hotel located in central Delhi, a part of town characterized by broad, tree-lined boulevards and stately colonial bungalows. The 132 rooms here are a bit dated and bland -- underwhelming for a hotel with luxury ambitions -- though some suites have jetted tubs. Amenities include a smallish pool, a fitness center, a spa, and plenty of meeting space. The restaurants are the biggest draw, particularly Dhaba, an upmarket rendition of traditional North Indian roadside eateries. The hotel dates back to 1952 and while some might find it charming in an old-fashioned kind of way, others might find some of the grounds and common areas sorely in need of an update. Travelers looking for something more modern may want to fork out a little extra cash to stay at the elegant Lodhi just down the road.

11

The Manor

New Delhi, National Capital Territory of Delhi, India

The Manor is an upscale boutique hotel in a posh residential neighborhood in South Delhi. With only 14 rooms, the vibe is intimate, and staying here feels much more homelike than some of the city's larger high-end hotels. Rooms are formal and business-like, with sleek wood panelling and large granite bathrooms, and some have private terraces. Amenities are abundant for such a tiny property, and include an impressive fitness center, a high-end spa with hydrotherapy and Ayurvedic treatments, and a library that has a treadmill standing desk. However, the famous on-site restaurant -- Indian Accent -- is the real draw, and attracts plenty of locals with its high-end East-meets-West cuisine. For something a little more central, consider The Lodhi instead, which is similarly quiet and upscale, but often more expensive.

12

Hyatt Regency Delhi

New Delhi, National Capital Territory of Delhi, India

The Hyatt Regency is a massive luxury hotel located in South Delhi, a short drive from both the airport and Central Delhi attractions. Its 507 rooms and suites are pleasant and modern, with lovely marble bathrooms complete with separate walk-in showers and soaking tubs. The bars and restaurants here are excellent and serve a variety of cuisine types from around the world, but Olympus, the spa and fitness center, is the real stand-out feature, with an excellent range of cardio and weight equipment, fitness classes, and all sorts of facials, massages, and beauty treatments. However, it's open to public membership, so the facilities -- including the hotel pool -- can get crowded at times. Though it's among the top hotels in the area, the nearby Taj Palace, Leela Palace, and ITC Maurya are all slightly more luxurious -- and expensive.

13

The Visaya

New Delhi, National Capital Territory of Delhi, India

The Visaya is a four-pearl boutique hotel located in South Delhi's ultra-posh Panscheel Park neighborhood. With only 34 rooms and one suite, it's considerably smaller than the typical upscale New Deli property, but still offers plenty of facilities, including a fitness center, meeting space, on-site parking, and a restaurant offering 24-hour room service and a free breakfast buffet. Rooms are swish and contemporary, with big marble bathrooms, and the Roof Top Suite has a whirlpool tub and its own private terrace. Travelers wanting something with more facilities, such as a pool and a spa, might want to consider The Manor instead, which has a spa, a hydrotherapy pool, and a renowned on-site restaurant.

14

WelcomHotel Dwarka

New Delhi, National Capital Territory of Delhi, India

WelcomHotel Dwarka is a four-pearl property about an hours’ drive from the main tourist attractions of New Delhi. With a location just 35 minutes by car from the airport and four meeting spaces, its often frequented by business travelers. However, amenities like an outdoor pool, spa, and free breakfast appeal to leisure travelers, too. The 322 rooms are modern, sleek, and spacious with amenities like minibars and flat-screen TVs. Still, there are some cleanliness issues associated with the rooms and pool area. Tourists might want to consider The Lodhi, a luxurious property with private plunge pools in the rooms, located near Humayun's Tomb.
