Popular with wedding groups, as well as couples and families, Alindra Villa makes a grand first impression with an impressive carved-stone entrance flanked by Balinese statuary. Lodging ranges from traditional hut-like units to expansive villas with private pools. Features include a restaurant with free breakfast, a spa with Balinese treatments, and a beautiful outdoor pool. The hotel's inland location might be a deal-breaker for some, as it is a 10-minute drive from the beach.

Despite the name, this 16-villa resort is not actually on the beach, but it's a quick three-minute walk away. One-, Two-, and Three-Bedroom Pool Villas have simple but elegant decor (cream-and-beige marble floors, large four-poster beds with canopy-style mosquito netting) and high ceilings with traditional Balinese vaulting. A large, modern restaurant is open from early morning (when the free daily breakfast buffet is served) until late at night and romantic beachside candlelit dinners can be arranged. The hotel offers same-day dry cleaning and laundry service (for a fee) and airport transfers, shuttle service to Kuta, and Wi-Fi (all for free).

The 11 one- to three-bedroom villas at this quiet resort come with open-air kitchens and private plunge pools with lounge chairs. The hotel doesn't have an on-site restaurant, but it includes a cooked-to-order breakfast in the room rates and can arrange dinners and barbecues in the villas (as well as traditional music performances and in-room spa treatments). The 10-room upper-middle-range Balquisse Heritage Hotel is a romantic boutique resort with a private getaway vibe, two outdoor pools, and an exotic full-service spa. The Balquisse feels remote, but sits on the Jimbaran boardwalk, a 10-minute walk from the beach. Asam Garan serves Indonesian food in a lovely pavilion, but breakfast isn't included in all room rates. Guest rooms are large, clean, and individually decorated with plantation-style antiques, lush textiles, and private terraces. For privacy and special, thoughtful decor, the Balquisse is ideal, but if guests want sea views and beachfront, the Villas at AYANA Resort is a good alternative.
