Bali Dynasty Resort Hotel
Jl. Kartika Plaza

The family-friendly, 313-room Bali Dynasty Resort is upper-middle-range property with tropical features like koi ponds and a wonderful garden that’s within a 15-minute walk of shops, attractions, and restaurants. Stylish, modern rooms have modern tile bathrooms, minibars, coffeemakers, and free bottled water, while some have balconies or patios and can fit families up to five people. There are three outdoor pools and several on-site restaurants and bars, and a great breakfast is included with room rates. Balinese treatments are offered at the Ashoka Spa, and there is free Wi-Fi throughout. The resort's rates are a bit high and rooms have some upkeep issues when compared to others in the area, like the Bali Garden Beach Resort, which is cheaper and offers similar features.

Grand Istana Rama Hotel Bali
Jalan Pantai Kuta

The 150-room Grand Istana Rama Hotel Bali is an upper-middle-range property located by the beach and right next to Kuta’s Beachwalk shopping center. An older resort, with traditional Balinese-style architecture and interiors, Grand Istana offers simple, pleasant rooms as well as bungalow-style Garden Suites with lovely, lush courtyards -- though bathrooms could use an update and guests complain of issues like clogged pipes. There’s an on-site restaurant serving Balinese and international dishes, as well as a popular bar with live entertainment. The outdoor pool is fairly large and features a swim-up bar, and though there’s no spa, massage and reflexology treatments are available. Other perks include free cultural activities like cooking and dancing classes, as well as language lessons during the week. Overall, this is a solid choice for an affordable rate, though facilities are a bit tired and in need of a revamp. For something more modern and stylish with a spa, travelers might want to consider the 100 Sunset Boutique Hotel, though it’s a bit far from the beach.

Taum Resort Bali

The property's array of modern apartment-style units have cozy kitchenettes and balconies; some have private pools and outdoor showers. Although in walking distance to the nightlife, the hotel is slightly on the town’s outskirts. For a vacation closer to the beach, guests could try the Sense Hotel Seminyak.

Citadines Kuta Beach Bali
Jl. Pantai Kuta

The Citadines Kuta Beach Bali is a contemporary three-and-a-half-pearl hotel located directly across from Kuta Beach. Many popular restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and shops are within walking distance. Guests are mainly young couples and groups of friends in town to enjoy the beach, affordable shopping, and nightlife. There is a range of rooms options available, and while all are fresh and bright, none have balconies. Higher category rooms do stand out, with additions like kitchenettes, washing machines, and spacious living rooms. The hotel contains a small fitness center, a laundry room, meeting rooms, two restaurants, and a rooftop pool. Alternatively, the nearby Patra Jasa Bali Resort has similar features and a direct beachfront setting, though rooms are more classically Balinese and rates are higher.

The outdoor pool and swim-up bar are picturesque and well-maintained. The on-site restaurant, Sandbar, serves authentic Mediterranean cuisine and a good free breakfast. The hotel also has an on-site spa that offers massages, facials, and scrubs. There is Wi-Fi, but it has an hourly fee, and the parking spaces are limited. Thanks to the hotel's location just off a major thoroughfare, some rooms get loud traffic noise.

Bintang Kuta Hotel
Jalan Kartika Plaza

The 168-room Bintang Kuta Hotel is a modern, mid-range property with free beach (and gym!) access provided by neighboring Ramada Bintang Bali Resort. That also means that the beach is directly accessible through the Ramada, though the central Kuta nightlife and tourist bustle is a 10-minute cab ride away. The hotel has an attractive pool with a swim-up bar and a good breakfast is included at the restaurant, which is also open for lunch and dinner. Contemporary rooms are fresh and bright, with air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi, though walls are thin. The Bintang Kuta Hotel is a great value if guests don't mind a quick walk for free access to resort-level facilities. Guests looking to stay at the Ramada Resort itself should expect to pay far more for their rooms.

Modern rooms feature glassed-in showers, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, and free bottled water while Suites have living areas with couches and soaking tubs. However, there have been complaints of loud traffic noise. Room service can be ordered from the on-site restaurant and there's also a juice bar, a spa, and a kids' club. There's no pool and the hotel is not on the beach, but there is a free shuttle to the sand. Those who prefer to be across the street from the beach should compare rates with the Mercure Kuta Bali.
