Ona Village Cala D’Or

Ona Village Cala D'Or is a fairly generic aparthotel that could use a bit of a refresh, but nonetheless, the value property attracts families and other leisure tourists seeking spacious lodgings with self-catering options. The Mediterranean-style two-story white buildings that comprise the hotel are surrounded by lovely green grounds studded with palms, plants, and well-tended greenery. Interiors are dated, but clean; the lobby is bright thanks to gleaming cream-colored tile floors that match the walls. There's not much going on in terms of decor, but orange armchairs provide seating in a functional space stocked with tourist brochures and a bookcase lined with tomes that guests are free to borrow. Most guests convene around the outdoor pool or head to the nearby beach, and there's also a poolside snack bar. Overall, it's a decent choice, especially for families who prefer apartments with kitchens. 

The hotel is conveniently situated near dining options and bars in Cala D'Or's Es Forti neighborhood. The resort town is a popular destination for vacationing Europeans, but gets quiet in the winter. There's a supermarket just down the street, which is convenient for those who want to utilize the kitchens in their apartments. The nearest beach, Caló d'es Pou, is a seven-minute walk away, while Cala Gran and Playa Cala D'or beaches are a seven-minute drive from the hotel. The Cala D'Or marina is an eight-minute walk away. The town center offers restaurants, bars, and shops -- it's about a 10-minute drive. Palma is about an hour's drive away. Palma de Mallorca Airport is a bit under an hour.

There are three sizes of apartments available, sleeping two, four, or up to six people. Decor is fairly generic and a bit dated, but the spaces are pleasant enough -- some past guests have noted cleanliness issues. Details like striped curtains and patterned wall tiles are outdated, as is the furniture, but nevertheless, the units are spacious and well equipped. All have separate living rooms with sofa beds, as well as full kitchens with stoves, ovens, microwaves, toasters, coffeemakers, electric kettles, full fridges, washing machines, cookware, and cutlery. All units also have furnished terraces and patios overlooking the lovely gardens. Other standard amenities include flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, air-conditioning, and safes, but there's a daily fee for Wi-Fi.

Facilities are a bit limited at this mid-range hotel, but there are a handful of features offered. There's a lovely outdoor pool surrounded by a spacious sundeck lined with palapa-shaded loungers. A poolside snack bar offers drinks and light bites, and there are tables and chairs on the sundeck overlooking the pool. There's also a lobby bar, but beyond this, there's not much else in terms of on-site dining -- all apartments have full kitchens so guests can self cater.

Other amenities offered include a kids' playground with a giant chess set, mini-golf, a fitness room, and a sauna. Bike rentals are available, and there's a collection of books in the lobby that guests can borrow. Wi-Fi incurs a daily charge. Free parking is available on-site.
