Es Saadi Marrakech Resort – Palace

Marrakech, Marrakech-Tensift-El Haouz Region, Morocco

The 92-room Es Saadi Marrakech Resort - Palace is quite luxurious; an historic property with a famous casino that was once a celebrity playground, with attention still paid to every visual and sensory detail, it mixes modern amenities with exquisite traditional decor and handcrafted furniture. The spa is a high-end destination with gorgeous private hammams and a slow-food restaurant. Rooms are individually decorated with care and exquisite taste, and have private balconies. Some can get noisy, though.

Hyatt Regency Casablanca

Casablanca, Grand Casablanca Region, Morocco

The 255-room Hyatt Regency Casablanca is an upscale, contemporary hotel in Casablanca's city center near the Old Medina. It offers a wealth of leisure facilities, including an excellent 20-yard pool, 24-hour fitness center, sauna, and hammam steam room. Also on-site are several quality restaurants and bars, including a French brasserie, Moroccan restaurant with belly dancing, and a nightclub. Rooms feature comfy beds and marble baths, but have translucent bathroom doors. Prices are fairly expensive but the hotel is newer, better built, and in better condition than many other Casablanca hotels of its class. The major downsides are that it's not on the ocean and breakfast costs extra. Guests may also want to consider Sofitel Casablanca Tour Blanche, where rates can be lower, features are similar, and standard rooms are a bit less spartan.

Kech Boutique Hotel & Spa

Marrakech, Marrakech-Tensift-El Haouz Region, Morocco

The Kech Boutique Hotel & Spa is an upper-middle-range, 72-room property with a large pool and a convenient location just 10 minutes' drive from the Medina. The spa has a beautiful hammam; the restaurant serves Moroccan cuisine; and the bar/lounge offers craft cocktails -- though they're pricey. Guest rooms are clean and spacious with elegant decor, and some have Atlas Mountain views. Breakfast is free, as is Wi-Fi, though the connection is shaky. This property draws a range of ages and types of guests, including solo travelers and couples, many of whom enjoy the modern decor and occasional DJ. Guests willing to pay a bit more could also try the architecturally stunning Sirayane Boutique Hotel & Spa, which has half-board options.

Royal Decameron Tafoukt Beach Hotel

Agadir, Souss-Massa-Draa Region, Morocco

The Royal Decameron Tafoukt Beach Hotel is an upper-middle-range property, well-located on Agadir Beach's lively promenade. Minimalist interiors are classy, and many guests rave about the action-packed entertainment, though it typically is in French. All-inclusive rates include sumptuous buffets, an open bar, hookah lounge, and nightclub -- rooms above the latter suffer from noise. An outdoor pool, private beach, kids' club, and bright gym round out the features. The 241 rooms are a bit plain but contemporary, and come with flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and private balconies, many of which overlook the ocean. Travelers seeking a less activity-minded stay may prefer the beachfront LTI Agadir Beach Club.

Atlantic Palace Hotel Agadir

Agadir, Souss-Massa-Draa Region, Morocco

The upscale Atlantic Palace Agadir is home to a casino, nightclub, six dining options, an outdoor pool, and extensive spa. It draws mostly couples who don’t mind the short eight-minute walk to the crowded public beach where a roped-off section is reserved for guests. Still, a fee for breakfast and the indoor pool, and high prices for food is a bit of a drawback. The 329 rooms, like much of the public spaces, feel a bit tired or dated, but have amenities like flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and balconies. Staff checks guests belongings at the door, to ensure they don't bring outside food or beverages in. For a more modern hotel, travelers could consider the Sofitel Agadir Thalassa Sea & Spa which has contemporary spaces throughout and rooms with kettles and minibars.

6

Ona Marrakech Ryads & Spa

Marrakech, Marrakech-Tensift-El Haouz Region, Morocco

The 260-room Marrakech Ryads Parc & Spa delivers an affordable, family-friendly Moroccan getaway on 13 riads with sprawling lawns, two lagoon-shaped outdoor pools, a kids’ club, and a fully-equipped sports center. Buffet dining and a poolside snack bar are also on hand. Rooms have classic furnishings, tube TVs, mini-fridges, and garden terraces. The hotel’s location, though, is rather removed from popular Marrakech sights. For a hotel closer to the medina, try the Kenzi Agdal Medina Hotel, but expect higher prices.

7

Sangho Club Privilege Marrakech

Marrakech, Marrakech-Tensift-El Haouz Region, Morocco

The Sangho Club Privilege Marrakech is an upper-middle-range, secluded, resort-style property situated about a 30-minute drive from Marrakech's medina (the hotel offers a shuttle for a fee). Its 324 rooms, including family rooms and 12 detached suites, feature flat-screen TVs, AC, and furnished balconies or patios, but there's no in-room Wi-Fi. The hotel has three restaurants and a cafe, a bar and nightclub, and offers a free breakfast buffet. Wellness and recreational facilities include indoor, outdoor, and kids' pools, a full-service spa, a small fitness center, and entertainment for kids and adults. Guests find some areas of the hotel dated, but the outdoor pool is luxurious and well kept, with stone waterfalls, a waterslide, and a large terrace with a pool bar. Travelers looking for a more intimate property may prefer Residence Dar Lamia, which has only 38 guest rooms.
