Top-notch rooms and suites have balconies, premium movie channels, and marble bathrooms -- but no free Wi-Fi. Sand-seekers may prefer the Naples Grande Beach Resort, which offers a similar array of amenities plus a beachfront.

The grounds of Hilton Naples hotel conjure those of an ‘80s-inflected Spanish villa -- grandiose, with a few dated touches. Guests comment that the beds in the 199 rooms are comfortable and the amenities, which include a large fitness center and fairly pricey steakhouse, generally outweigh the inconvenience of the property’s distance from the beach and slightly outmoded aesthetic. Most of the 474 classically decorated rooms and suites are located in the main 18-story building, and those on higher floors have lovely views of the Gulf. There are also 50 Garden Villas out in the grounds, near the Hibiscus Hideaway lap pool. The resort offers a huge array of features for families, couples, and convention delegates, including three pools (one with a huge waterslide), a spa with its own separate villa for group spa treatments, a huge array of indoor and outdoor meeting space, multiple bars and restaurants, a big fitness center, and 15 tennis courts. While it's really at the top of its game in terms of facilities, travelers looking for something more intimate may want to consider the Hyatt Coconut Plantation instead.

Its location is its biggest asset, as both 5th Avenue and downtown Naples are reachable in five minutes on foot. The Lobby Lounge serves an a la carte continental breakfast, though this isn't included in room rates. The bar in the Lobby Lounge also serves coffee, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and snacks throughout the day. There is a heated outdoor swimming pool, though no fitness facilities. Travelers wanting to stay somewhere even closer to the action can check out Bayfront Inn 5th Ave, with similar rates, though less charming interiors.

Centrally located five minutes from downtown Naples and a 15-minute walk to Lowdermilk Beach, this Ramada hotel is a simple and convenient mid-range option for tourists. Decor in common areas looks dated despite renovations in 2014, but most facilities -- including a gym and pleasant outdoor pool -- are clean. The 137 updated rooms are well-appointed with mini-fridges, microwaves, and tea-and coffee-making facilities. Freebies include a mediocre breakfast buffet, outdoor parking, and property-wide Wi-Fi. There’s also an independently owned surf and turf restaurant right on the property. For cheaper rates and similar features without the motel-style layout, the nearby Inn of Naples is a good choice.

The Bayfront Inn has a quaint and convenient location on 5th Avenue, near shops and restaurants and overlooking Naples Bay. The 91-room hotel is a step above some nearby hotels in a similar price range: It has stylish rooms with classic decor and modern bathrooms, a secluded tree-surrounded pool area with a nice water feature, and numerous rooms with attractive bay views. However, the pool is small, there is no fitness center, and only suites have mini-fridges and microwaves.
