Grand Hyatt Bali
Kawasan Wisata, Nusa Dua BTDC

The beachfront Grand Hyatt Bali is a lavish resort in central Nusa Dua, across the street from the Bali Collection's upscale shops. This is a massive property, and the 636 spacious rooms have marble bathrooms, plush beds, and flat-screen TVs. Balconies are a nice addition, and some offer sea views. Style is pleasantly modern, but not the most chic we've seen, and some rooms look a bit tired. The resort has several restaurants, a white-sand beach with water sports, five swimming pools, a full-service spa, and a big health club with a gym, squash courts, saunas, and plunge pools. While not as luxurious as the nearby St. Regis, the Grand Hyatt is comparable in quality to the neighboring Melia Bali Indonesia, where rates are significantly lower.

Kayumanis Nusa Dua Private Villa & Spa
BTDC Area, P.O.Box 1828

Tucked away on a private stretch of sand, Kayumanis Nusa Dua is an intimate and luxurious adult-only retreat that feels a world away from the large neighboring resorts. Each of the property’s 20 villas is housed in a beautiful pavilion with an indoor-outdoor design and tasteful, traditional Indonesian decor. All have private pools, outdoor bathrooms, and top-notch services such as personal butlers, and drivers for free private day trips to as far as Jimbaran. The on-site beach is not the prettiest around, but it is sandy and relaxing, and has padded lounge chairs and a beach club. The spa is small but excellent, and also offers in-room treatments. The on-site Italian restaurant is mediocre, but there's a great Indonesian restaurant on-site and plenty of other options within a short distance of the hotel. The Bale Hotel offers a similar adult-only experience, but it's not right on the beach and can be pricier.

The Bale
Jl. Raya Nusa Dua Selatan

The Bale is one of the most luxurious properties in Nusa Dua, and its soothing zen-inspired decor and gorgeous grounds wow at first sight. Housed in private pavilions set within their own walled gardens, the hotel’s 29 rooms offer a level of privacy hard to find in other luxury resorts. All units have lovely infinity pools, upscale amenities, and top-notch bathrooms with outdoor showers. The spa offers wonderful signature treatments in minimalist rooms, and there's a beautiful two-tier infinity pool. There are two excellent restaurants and a small fitness center with yoga classes, plus the hotel has a private beach club with loungers on a nice stretch of sand a short walk away. Rates can be steep, but freebies such as breakfast, airport transfers, welcome massages, and free daily restocking of the minibar add value. Kids aren't allowed here; families seeking a luxury stay might want to check out the Samabe Bali Suites & Villas.

VOUK Hotel & Suites
Jalan Raya Nusa Dua Selatan

Formerly the Puri Nusa Dua, the 172-room Vouk Hotel & Suites is an upper-middle-range property that offers decent value for money. Rooms are spacious and sunny with amenities such as flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and minibars, as well as balconies furnished with daybeds. They’re in good shape overall, but there have been some complaints of moldy showers. The property has a casual restaurant serving international and Indonesian cuisine (but food gets mixed reviews), and a long shaded pool lined with padded loungers. There's also a pleasant spa with treatment cabins for couples as well as a small fitness center. The hotel's location is a little isolated, but free shuttle service to Bali Collection and Geger Beach -- where the Vouk has free loungers for guests -- is available several times a day. Those interested in staying directly on the beach may want to compare rates with Sadara Boutique Beach Resort.

Ulu Segara Luxury Suites & Villas
Jl. Raya Nusa Dua Selatan

Built on the side of a cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean, the Ulu Segara is an intimate luxury hotel catering to couples wanting to get away from it all. It's located a 10-minute drive from central Nusa Dua, and there is nothing around it aside from other high-end properties. Its 36 suites feature sweeping ocean views, quality amenities, kitchenettes, and massive bathrooms with separate showers and tubs. The 10 villas have private pools, full kitchens, and up to three bedrooms, but views from some are partially obstructed by other buildings. There's direct access to a narrow stretch of sand with a lifeguard, but there aren’t any loungers. The beautiful infinity pool is a pleasant alternative with a swim-up bar. Food here, although varied, gets mixed reviews. Travelers seeking more luxe digs should consider the neighboring Samabe Bali Suites & Villas.

Ion Bali Benoa Hotel
Jl. Pratama No. 93, Tanjung Benoa

The 150-room, mid-range Ion Bali Benoa is a no-frills, cheerful hotel offering great value. Rooms are small but stylish, with a cute surf theme throughout, a cheerful color palette, large windows, and excellent beds. Bathrooms are clean and modern, but frosted glass doors in the toilet and shower may cause privacy issues for some. This budget property is light on amenities, featuring just a pleasant rooftop pool with a swim-up bar, and an average restaurant serving Indonesian and Western cuisine. But ultra-low rates that include a basic breakfast, Wi-Fi, and bottled water daily, plus a central location within walking distance of the beach and dining, make the Ion Bali Benoa one of the best picks for a relaxing vacation on the cheap.

The Grand Bali Nusa Dua
Jl. Nusa Dua Selatan no. 8, ITDC Complex Nusa Dua Lot RA 6

The Grand Bali Nusa Dua is a 63-room, four-pearl property in Nusa Dua, close to golf, the beach, and shopping. The tropical grounds are filled with flowers and trees, and lovely stone walkways wind throughout, creating an away-from-it-all vibe. Rooms and suites are large, though a bit formal and even dated, and all have a balcony or terrace. Some provide direct pool access, and villas have their own private pools. The pool area is especially beautiful, but the resort isn't on the beach. The restaurant serves all meals and there are bars by the pool and at the beach club. There's also a spa and a small fitness center. Families looking for a nearby hotel with more activities for children could check out the Novotel Nusa Dua Hotel & Residences.

Grand Whiz Hotel Nusa Dua
Block T, Kawasan Wisata

The 130-room Grand Whiz Hotel Nusa Dua is a three-and-a-half pearl hotel located within the Bali Convention Center complex and within an easy walk of a pleasant beach. It lacks local charm and there are signs of wear and tear in some areas, but this business hotel offers the basics for a relaxing vacation at a fraction of the price. There are a pleasant spa with a long list of body treatments and salon services, a lovely pool with plenty of loungers, and two restaurants, both with outdoor seating. Rooms are compact and generic, but come equipped with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and electric kettles. Villas are the highlight here, with four en-suite bedrooms, a full kitchen, and a large private pool. Families should compare rates with the Courtyard by Marriott Bali Nusa Dua, with a kids' club and children's pool.

Swiss-Belhotel Segara Resort & Spa
Jalan Pura Segara, Sawangan

The 154-room Swiss-Belhotel Segara is a quiet, upper-middle-range resort in a somewhat isolated location a five-minute drive from Geger Beach. In addition to a decent restaurant with reasonable rates, there are two large freeform pools, including one for adults only that has two hot tubs and plenty of loungers. The spa offers an array of body treatments and salon services, and features two lovely pavilions for outdoor massages. Rooms are simply decorated but have all the amenities needed for a comfortable, relaxing stay, including free Wi-Fi, furnished balconies, flat-screen TVs, and air-conditioning. Some rooms, though, are starting to feel a little worn, as are some common areas. Rates are competitive for Nusa Dua, but those looking for something more upscale may want to compare rates at Le Grande Bali, located inside the New Kuta Golf Course.

Novotel Bali Nusa Dua Hotel & Residences
Jl. Pantai Mengiat, ITDC Complex

The Novotel Nusa Dua Hotel & Residences is an upscale, family-friendly resort with a beautiful bi-level pool surrounded by lush tropical gardens. The 173 rooms here were renovated in 2015-16 and come in a variety of layouts, including suites with multiple bedrooms and kitchenettes. While it is not directly on the beach, there's free shuttle service to a lovely stretch of sand a three-minute drive away, complete with a bar serving snacks and cocktails. Varied international buffets are also offered, but food gets mixed reviews. Body treatments and salon services are available at the spa, along with a kids’ menu and well-equipped gym. The kids’ club offers an array of fun activities, and there is a daily program for adults as well. Travelers looking to be right on the beach may want to consider the similarly priced Novotel Bali Benoa.
