The 175 rooms are generic and lack the traditional decor found in many other area hotels, but are modern with mini-fridges, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, free Wi-Fi, and balconies. The hotel offers a kids' club and spa (with mini-beds and services), children's pool, playground, and babysitting, and its private beach is a five-minute walk away.

Located at the top of a cliff five minutes from central Nusa Dua, the ultra-luxurious Samabe Bali has 81 suites and villas -- all housed in thatched structures with indoor-outdoor designsh. The Samabe has its own private beach, a lovely, quiet stretch of powdery sand dotted with padded loungers and umbrellas, where food service and free non-motorized sports are available. Though the 246 rooms feel cookie-cutter modern, the grounds are quite lovely, with a huge lagoon swimming pool. There's also kids' pool and club, featuring sandcastle-building, storytelling, movies, Balinese dress-up, and arts and crafts. The Courtyard is not right on the beach, but its beach club is accessible via a free shuttle.

Designed to resemble a traditional Balinese temple, the 541-room beachside Ayodya Resort Bali has large lake-like fountains featuring water-spouting dragon statues, pagoda-style structures with orange roofs, and exposed wooden beam ceilings in common areas. On-site features include lagoon-style and infinity pools, a shopping arcade, the Balinese Theater, and a kids' club that offers inside activities, a big outdoor playground, and babysitting.

The Westin Nusa Dua Resort is an upscale seafront resort in central Nusa Dua, across the street from the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center. While not quite as luxurious as some of its neighbors, the Westin has enough style and features -- plus direct access to the beach -- to make it a popular choice. The 433 spacious rooms have sharp modern decor, flat-screen TVs, and balconies with views of the ocean, gardens, or pool. Features include a saltwater pool surrounded by tropical gardens, tennis courts, a full-service spa with shiatsu room, a kids' club and Teens Zone, and several restaurants and bars. About 10 minutes away, the Ayodya Resort Bali has similar features and free breakfast, though its ambience and decor are not as nice as The Westin's.
