Katerina and John's Hotel
Emporeiou Perissas

The two-pearl Katerina and John’s is a solid, somewhat unexciting budget hotel on Santorini’s eastern coast in Perissa. Its chief draw is its location on the bus line to Fira, a short walk from tavernas, bars, shops, and five minutes to the black-sand Perissa Beach. Facilities are limited to a small seasonal swimming pool, breakfast (for a fee) with hot items, and free Wi-Fi and parking. The 18 rooms (the largest can sleep six people) have a simple, uncluttered and dated look. While all rooms come with mini-fridges, they do lack electric kettles. TVs are small tube-style models and there are occasional issues accessing the free Wi-Fi. The nearby Stelios Place is closer to the beach, and has a poolside bar and slightly nicer rooms, but it’s a bit more expensive.

Petra Nera Hotel
Perissa Main Road

Petra Nera Hotel is a budget option with one major selling point: it's less than a 10-minute walk to the ultra popular and picturesque Perissa Beach and the Santorini Water Park. The hotel's exterior and public areas are nicely maintained, but the rooms are outdated and we detected a sewage smell and saw tiny showers. Breakfast isn't included in rates -- the bakery across the street is a better option anyway. The outdoor pool provides a reprieve from hanging out in the room, and Wi-Fi is strongest in the lobby. For slightly higher rates, but much more comfortable rooms and a free gourmet breakfast, the nearby Bella Santorini is an excellent choice.

Anastasia Princess Hotel & Suites
Perissa beach, Santorini

The three-pearl Anastasia Princess Hotel is a charming, colorful property, a stone's throw from Perissa Beach. Less tourist-packed than pricier Fira, peaceful settings here draw romancing couples, and cheerful decor is immaculate, both indoors and out. The 28 turquoise-and-white themed rooms are contemporary and attractive, and all have kitchenettes, flat-screen TVs, and AC. Flower-filled paths surround two outdoor pools, which each have an adjacent bar for breakfast and lunches in the summer, but there's no full restaurant. Most guests agree the familiar atmosphere and laid-back vibe make this hotel a gem in Perissa. Offering more for kids, the Smaragdi Hotel is a good family alternative.
