Costa Lindia Beach Resort

First opening its doors in 2007, the Costa Lindia Beach Resort is a modern hotel that caters to families and couples. The hotel lobby is grand with a domed glass ceiling above a chandelier that dangles to the bottom floor. Furniture is classic and traditional, with comfortable brown leather sofas, white marble tile floors, stained glass windows, and a rental car service desk under a wooden skylight.

The exterior buildings -- where the rooms are -- have stacked stone facades, dark wooden railings, and terra-cotta roof tiles.

The most stylish part of the hotel is the pool complex, which includes six outdoor pools and a rock waterfall pool right on the beach. The pools are separated by rock walls, but feel like a continuous meandering river that goes throughout the hotel, with mountain and sea views, a lazy river, bridges, a rock shower, and waterfalls. Pool decks include stylish rattan umbrellas and lounge chairs. There is also one kids' pool with animal slides but without any lounge chairs on the deck. Another pool has a large, orange slide that twists into the building.

The hotel is located on a quiet street on the southeastern side of Rhodes island, and is somewhat removed from the tourist attractions. Rhodes, the popular medieval town -- offering historical walking tours and ancient ruins -- is an hour and 10 minutes away by car. There are numerous rental car companies within walking distance. The beach -- with a water-sports rental shack and docked boats -- is within a few minutes on foot. There’s also a bus stop right outside. The Diagoras International Airport is an hour and 15 minutes away by car. Lindos -- popular for the Lindos Acropolis and its nightlife scene -- is a 12-minute drive.

The hotel offers large rooms -- Doubles, Superiors, Family Rooms, and Maisonettes. But some of the furnishings, including tube TVs, are old, and the white walls lack decor and feel bare. Some guests complain about the level of cleanliness in the rooms. Bathrooms have modern fixtures and whirlpool tubs. General features include air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, safes, mini-refrigerators, and balconies or casually furnished terraces that are poolside or in the garden. Some balconies have partial and full sea views. Family rooms offer separate areas for kids. More modern decor can be found in the Maisonettes.

The hotel offers seven meeting rooms -- plus a foyer -- for conventions or weddings. Meeting rooms have modern audiovisual equipment and can fit between 21 to 161 people. Business and concierge services are additional fees.

The hotel also caters to families, and its classically designed main restaurant offers a buffet and poolside seating. There’s also a beach restaurant, an Arabic restaurant, and a Greek barbecue restaurant. For cocktails, there’s the Sala Lounge bar, the Rotonda Pool bar, the Delle Acque Pool bar, the Avra Beach bar and the lobby bar.
