Hotel Meranerhof is set in the charming town of Merano, on the Passer River opposite the town’s main promenade. There are many restaurants, shops, and cafes within walking distance, and Merano Thermal Baths, which features 25 indoor and outdoor pools, is just a few steps away. Surrounded by hillsides and mountains, Merano is known for its outdoor activity options, offering plenty of opportunities to go skiing, mountain biking, hiking, canoeing, and more in the surrounding area. 

Like other properties in Merano, Hotel Meranerhof is quite far from any international airport. The nearest regional airport is Bolzano, a 30-minute drive away, while the closest international airport is Verona Airport, which is nearly two hours away by car. 

Guest rooms are decorated in what the hotel describes as either classic or modern style, and no two are exactly alike. Most classic rooms have light neutral color schemes, white furniture, and a traditional vibe. Many feature tall padded headboards, gold detailing, and floral prints. Some have wood floors, while others have blue carpeting or eye-catching patterned flooring. Modern rooms, on the other hand, tend to be decorated with dark woods, bolder colors, and vivid artwork, though some of the loud colors and furnishings feel closer to '80s than present day.

Some feature shower/tub combos, while others have glass-walled showers -- in Dream Rooms, the shower doubles as a steam room, while Junior Suites offer both a shower and separate bathtub. All bathrooms have bidets, hairdryers, and magnifying mirrors, along with bath products from Omnisens Paris and Laura Kayal. 

Most guests come to Merano for a peaceful escape from the hustle-and-bustle, so it’s no surprise that relaxation is the focus of the hotel’s features. Topping that list is the large indoor swimming pool with a handsome wood-and-glass ceiling that allows in ample natural light. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors alongside offer beautiful views of the garden -- they’re left open during the warmer months. There’s also a small series of Kniepp pools, shallow wading pools that are designed to promote circulation. 

Glass walls separate the pool area from the sunny compact fitness center, which features a treadmill, upright bike, and elliptical machine, as well as a weight machine and exercise balls. The serene, minimalist spa includes a Finnish sauna and Roman steam room. A variety of spa treatments and beauty services are offered, including massages, manicures, facials, and brow shaping. 

The hotel’s restaurant exudes old-fashioned elegance with its white tablecloth-topped tables and navy, round back chairs. Breakfast is a buffet spread of pastries, fruit, and bread, while the lunch and dinner menus focus on Mediterranean and Tyrolean fare. Rates that include breakfast, as well as half- and full-board rates are available. The bar area decor is equally traditional with its plum-colored armchairs and chandeliers. It serves a range of wines, cocktails, and liquors.
