The Hotel Palazzo Ravizza is a four-story brick building with green shutters and a beautiful gravel, garden area out back. Wicker chairs with bistro tables offer guests a place to sit among the trees and shrubs and take in views of the Italian countryside. There’s also a big outdoor dining area for enjoying the tasty breakfast. The hotel was turned into a pensione in the 1920s and still reflects a classic style with vaulted ceilings, heavy wooden furnishings, and portraits with gilded frames. 

Located inside the old walls surrounding Siena, Hotel Palazzo Ravizza is within walking distance to several restaurants and historic sites including the Siena Cathedral and Biblioteca Piccolomini. Piazza del Campo, Siena’s main square and the site of the famous Palio horse races, can be reached within 10 minutes on foot. The Siena railway station is a 20-minute drive away and the Leonardo da Vinci International Airport in Rome takes about two and a half hours by car.

Most rooms at the Palazzo Ravizza are decorated with fabric headboards and antique furnishings such as wooden marble-top dressers. Some rooms have patterned tile floors and ceilings with exposed wooden beams; rooms with balconies are available. Most will find the classic style charming, but it may not suit everyone, and some rooms are showing a bit of wear. All rooms have LCD TVs with satellite channels and free wired Internet. Guests recommend paying more to stay in the rooms facing the Italian countryside. Bathrooms have either shower/tub combos or walk-in showers and some rooms have whirlpool tubs.

There’s free on-site parking at the hotel as well as free Wi-Fi in public areas. The hotel has a bar serving wine and spirits and a piano hall with couches and chairs. The free breakfast includes cheese and salamis that can be enjoyed outside in the garden area, which offers views of the countryside. There’s an English-language bookstore on-site that sells books and gifts, and a small bar offers both wines and spirits as well as cheeses and salami.
