The Four Seasons is one of the most luxurious, beautiful resorts in Whistler. The property features a heated outdoor pool; a top-notch fitness center (complete with a yoga/cycling studio) and spa; and large rooms and residences with fireplaces, gorgeous bathrooms, and of course, great mountain views. The upscale "ski lodge" lobby exudes a cozy vibe, with wood-paneled walls, wood beamed- ceilings, and chandeliers, as do the bar and steakhouse (with amazing mountain views).

This 550-room Fairmont Chateau is perched amid Bavarian-styled buildings just outside of Whistler Village, with magnificent views and close proximity to ski lifts. The interior decor is typical of a Fairmont, but with a mountain-esque twist -- think crown molding meets exposed wooden beams and stone-tiled walls. The excellent Wildflower restaurant serves contemporary American fare, and the restaurants and bars in Whistler Village are a 15-minute walk away. The two eucalyptus steam rooms and multiple Jacuzzis make it easy for guests to warm up after a day in the snow and during the summer months, guests can enjoy the 18-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr.

A luxurious escape from the madness of the touristy parts of Whistler, the 77 suites at Nita Lake Lodge evoke sophisticated, mountain-town style, with high, vaulted ceilings, fireplaces, and beautiful balconies with gorgeous views. Decor is effortlessly elegant, playing on simple, contrasting colors, like clean, white linens and dark wood trim. An on-site European restaurant features organic and sustainable food. More dining options can be found in Creekside -- just a short walk away -- and a free shuttle carts visitors to Whistler regularly. The lodge's tiny pool leaves much to be desired, but guests can swim in the Nita Lake -- it's cold, but entirely possible in the summer -- and other lakes that are all within a 10-minute walk.

The 419 rooms at the Westin were updated to accommodate the masses that descended upon Whistler for the 2010 Winter Olympics: They're all large and well suited for families or groups, with kitchenettes, pull-out sofas, and fireplaces. Although not all rooms come with balconies, it's hard to find a bad view; most guests will look out over snowcapped mountains (even in the summer) or the charming village. And the location just steps off of Whistler's Village Stroll is close to the action.
