Captain's House Inn, Cape Cod


The Captain’s House Inn is a historic property in Cape Cod with 16 elegant rooms decorated in an English country style. Since no children under the age of 10 are allowed, and most guests are couples, the atmosphere is romantic and quiet. The rooms mix traditional decor with modern amenities like flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi, and provide luxe touches such as fireplaces and soaking tubs. Ho'oilo House, Maui


The only upscale bed-and-breakfast in Lahaina, Ho’oilo House is an adults-only bed-and-breakfast that provides an intimate, romantic alternative to the area’s busy chain hotels. With just six spacious rooms arranged around a beautiful common area that’s decked out in stunning, imported Balinese-style decor, this is about as opposite of a generic mega-resort as you can get. Room highlights include furnished patios and indoor-outdoor bathrooms that allow guests to shower under the stars. Although amenities are limited to a tasty, albeit limited, continental breakfast and a small, lovely pool, the experience here is less about action and more about relaxing and enjoying the great views of the ocean below. 

Southernmost House, Key West


The adults-only Southernmost House occupies a historic Victorian home directly on the ocean and just off popular Duval Street. This 18-room inn feels sophisticated but laid-back, and has hosted the likes of Hemingway and Capote. Its genteel sitting porches, antique furnishings, and original Tiffany-glass entrance canopy connect visitors with old Key West, while the spacious, individually designed guest rooms offer modern comforts, such as flat-screen TVs and mini-fridges. A free continental breakfast is served daily, and can be enjoyed on a lovely terrace. There’s also a lovely zero-edge pool overlooking the ocean. 

Romantic Riversong Bed and Breakfast Inn, Estes Park


Set on 27 wooded acres in Estes Park, on the banks of the picturesque Big Thompson River, the 10-room Romantic River Song Bed and Breakfast Inn lives up to its name.
