Bottom Line

The 488-room Hyatt Regency Baltimore Inner Harbor is a lovely, upper-middle-range hotel in a fantastic location across the street from the harbor. The highlight is a gorgeous rooftop terrace with stunning views, though the pool and bar are only open in summer months. There are also a well-reviewed restaurant, a coffee shop, and a spacious fitness room with a range of equipment. Contemporary rooms have plush beds and modern amenities like mini-fridges, flat-screen TVs, and iPod docks. Breakfast and parking are not included, which can add expenses to an already pricey stay, and lots of past guests complain of noise issues. For a more affordable option, check out the Inn at Henderson’s Wharf, outside Inner Harbor, but still on the bay.

Hyatt Regency Baltimore Inner Harbor

Scene

A sophisticated, modern hotel with stunning rooftop views

The Hyatt Regency Baltimore Inner Harbor sits on a busy street in a part of Baltimore popular with tourists. The tall, glass building reflects the city around it and stands out on a road full of brick and concrete. Inside, the lobby is grand and contemporary: A wide staircase with escalators dominate the entryway, and the black-and-white color scheme lends elegance to the space. Pink sails behind the front desk, potted purple lilacs, and deep-green couches provide a few pops of color in some of the alcoves around the exterior. The second floor has a softer look, with beige patterned carpets, potted plants, and light-wood accents around the coffee shop. Business travelers are drawn here for the excellent location and appealing features, but this hotel is popular with all types of travelers interested in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor area.

Location

Just off Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, close to businesses and attractions

This hotel is ideally located, just off the harbor and close to business and tourist destinations in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor area. It is on a busy, 10-lane road, but accessing the sites of the harbor is made easy via a walkway from the hotel’s attached parking garage. The walkway brings guest directly to Hooters restaurant, and there are many other places to eat nearby. The Baltimore Convention Center is a six-minute walk from the hotel, making it convenient for business travelers. There’s a public bus stop a two-minute walk away, as well as a bike share station two minutes down the road on the other side of the busy street. BWI Airport is a 20-minute drive from the hotel.

Rooms

Modest decor in rooms with modern amenities like big flat screen TVs and iPod docks

While contemporary, rooms are on the small side and outfitted with modest decor. Deep-blue carpet stands out against ivory walls and gray or light-blue fabrics. Generic modern artwork and red throw pillows add some color to the spaces. Floor-to-ceiling windows let in lots of light, and there are sitting areas where guests can enjoy the views (though some have less appealing city vistas). On the downside, many past guests have commented on outside noise being an issue in rooms. Plush beds come in double, queen, or king-size, with signature Hyatt-brand mattresses and bedding. All rooms have a 42-inch flat-screen TV, mini-fridge, coffeemaker, iPod dock, iron, and safe. Bathrooms can be tight, but the mosaic tile accents are pretty; options include a shower stall, a tub, or a combo of the two. A hairdryer and free toiletries are provided. Turndown service can be requested. Upgrades to Regency Club rooms include robes and access to an exclusive lounge with a free breakfast and personalized concierge service.

Gorgeous rooftop pool deck, chic restaurant and bar, modern fitness room, and free Wi-Fi

The highlight of the hotel is the beautiful rooftop terrace with stunning views of the harbor. There are plenty of orange padded loungers around a small pool, as well as a bar. Three daily meals are served at Pier 300, a chic third-floor restaurant with high ceilings, lots of natural light, and impressive features like giant light fixtures, solid marble buffet tables, and a water feature running the length of the restaurant.
