The red-roofed, white clapboard Acadia Inn is situated in a quiet area, surrounded by partially wooded and grassy grounds. It's a standard hotel with not much that sets it apart from similar budget options in the area, though the affordable rates, outdoor swimming pool, and playground make it a popular choice with families traveling on a budget. The interiors lack character and have a chain-like feel. The simple lobby area takes a cue from its oceanside location, with a soft color palette, delicately patterned wallpaper, sea-foam curtains framing large windows, and seaside prints adorning the walls. A brown leather couch, an armchair, and a wooden coffee table face the reception desk, and there's a small gift shop selling Maine souvenirs, maps, and postcards. The decor is dated and lackluster, but the space is clean and bright. The patterned wallpaper extends into the dining area where a free breakfast buffet is served. The room looks like a cafeteria, with wooden tables and chairs and carpeted flooring that's in need of an upgrade. There are few public spaces in the hotel, but guests are free to roam around the grounds outside, and there's a hiking trail leading directly to Acadia National Park.

Acadia Inn is situated on quiet grassy and partly wooded grounds, just off of Eden Street and a two-minute drive from downtown Bar Harbor. The nearest restaurant, Jack Russell’s Steak House and Brewery, is down the road, a two-minute walk away. The College of the Atlantic is across the street from the hotel. A free shuttle stops in front of the hotel during the high season and makes several stops in Acadia National Park and in downtown Bar Harbor. A hiking trail on the hotel grounds leads directly to Acadia National Park. 

There are two room options at the Acadia Inn: Single Rooms with king beds or Doubles with two queens. The rooms are basic, with a chain-like vibe, and show some signs of wear and tear. Though they lack character, rooms are comfortable enough, with big beds, work desks, flat-screen TVs with premium cable channels, mini-fridges, and free Wi-Fi. Decor is certainly dated, with burgundy walls complemented by cheap floral-patterned curtains and matching bedspreads, dark wooden furniture, framed watercolor prints of Maine coastal scenes on the walls, and olive-colored carpets that are due for an upgrade. But the effect is not entirely unpleasant, and most rooms get plenty of natural light. Bathrooms have shower/tub combos, free toiletries, and hairdryers.

There's no restaurant at the Acadia Inn, but a free, and by some accounts mediocre, continental breakfast is served every morning and free coffee and tea are available throughout the day. There's also free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel as well as a computer and a printer. Guests can use a small outdoor pool and hot tub located on the hotel grounds, and there's also a picnic area and a playground for kids. The gift shop next to the reception desk sells all sorts of Maine souvenirs, and there are coin-operated laundry facilities for guest use.
