Bottom Line

The mid-range Village Hotel is part of the Village at Breckenridge, and it offers a great location near the Quicksilver ski lift and the shops and restaurants along Main Street. The property's 60 guest rooms have Keurig coffeemakers and mini-fridges, but they’re dated, with cramped bathrooms. Hotel guests get access to the Village's amenities, many of which are located at the Village Resort next door. Highlights include free breakfast during ski season, fitness center, indoor/outdoor pool, whirlpools, restaurants, and ski services. Underground parking, Wi-Fi, and shuttles are covered by the hotel's daily resort fee. Travelers looking for accommodations with kitchens who don't mind spending a bit more may want to consider spacious condos at the Village Resort.

Oyster Hotel Review

The Village Hotel

Scene

An expansive Village in the heart of town, with a relaxed mountain lodge vibe

The Village is designed like a small mountain village, with several different buildings around a central plaza. The Hotel itself is quiet, as guests register at the Resort lobby next door, with typical mountain lodge decor -- rough wood beams, stone floors, and a fireplace flanked by comfy furniture. It’s a modest space with a relaxed vibe, but it gets crowded in the winter with families. The expansive Village has several common areas for guests to congregate, however, which helps diffuse the crowds and keep the area relatively peaceful.

Location

In the heart of Breckenridge, near the Quicksilver ski lift

It’s possible to ski-in/ski-out of the hotel because it’s only a two-minute walk to the Quicksilver ski lift that leads to Peak 9. It’s also only a two-minute walk to the south end of Breckenridge’s historic Main Street, lined with restaurants, bars, and shops. A grocery and liquor store are four minutes away on foot, and the Breck-Connect Gondola is a 14-minute walk. It takes approximately two hours to drive to Denver International Airport.

Rooms

Basic and dated, with mini-fridges, Keurig coffeemakers, and cramped bathrooms

These basic and dated guest rooms at The Village hotel have drab decor commonly seen in budget chain properties. Yellow walls are paired with two-tone brown carpeting, beds are accented with leaf-patterned throws, and window don mini blinds. Wood furniture has a light finish, and subtle splashes of color come from contemporary art and orange upholstered armchairs.

Rooms are somewhat small, with some beds in the Standard Doubles abutting walls. Larger Executive and Deluxe Kings include sleeper sofas and coffee tables, but none of the rooms we saw had desks. The wood vanities with granite tops placed just outside the bathrooms are nice enough, but the bathrooms themselves are cramped. Toilets are wedged next to the shower/tub combos, which contain dispensers for shampoo and soap.

Units are generally tidy and well-maintained, but some past guests have reported minor housekeeping and maintenance issues. Standard amenities include mini-fridges, Keurig coffeemakers, flat-screen TVs, safes, air-conditioning, and free Wi-Fi, and larger units add microwaves. Rooms are considerably quiet, and they have pleasant views of the Village.

Features

Some nice freebies, including ski equipment rental, but many features are off-site

Hotel guests get full access to the Village’s numerous amenities, many of which are located at the Village’s condo resort next door. During ski season, a free hot breakfast buffet is served that includes eggs and extra treats like biscuits and sausage gravy. Free morning coffee also is available in the resort’s lobby, where hotel guests register. The complex also has The Maggie, serving light fare for lunch and dinner during ski season, as well as Park Avenue Pub that serves classic pub grub for dinner all year.

The resort houses the fitness center, with several cardio machines and some weight-training equipment, plus a steam room, sauna, and locker facilities. It's also where the heated indoor/outdoor pool is found, which is open year-round, and has multiple outdoor whirlpools.

A guest laundry room with two washer/dryers is on-site, and valet dry cleaning and laundry is offered. Free ski equipment rental and storage is available, as is child care during ski season. The daily resort fee covers valet parking in a garage, an in-town shuttle, and Wi-Fi, among other things. Pets are welcome with a surcharge.
