Queens Hotel is housed in an attractive Victorian terrace building overlooking the beach and sea, with a set of apartments located next door. The interiors are a mix of old-fashioned and modern decor, with antique wooden desks in the lobby with faded brown carpet, contemporary leather couches, an aquarium, and a mix of antique tables and furniture. The result can feel tired, according to some guests, and there have also been complaints of upkeep issues in public spaces. Most guests are vacationing couples and families.

Queens Hotel is across from the beach in the city center, and the surrounding streets have plenty of restaurants, bars, and entertainment options. The Royal Pavilion is a five-minute walk away, while the Brighton Dome takes eight minutes to reach on foot. It’s an eight-minute walk to Churchill Shopping Center. Though most attractions in the city can be reached on foot in under 10 minutes, there is a bus stop a few minutes’ walk from the property, making it easy to get around without a car. It’s a 23-minute drive to Brighton City Airport or about an hour into London by train. 

Queens Hotel offers rooms in its main building plus 14 One-Bedroom and Studio Apartments in an adjacent building that the property acquired in 2015. Apartments have kitchenettes with toasters, microwaves, cutlery, and Nespresso machines, and the One-Bedroom Apartments add washers and dryers (some Studios also have washing machines).

Main building rooms saw some renovations in 2016, and the hotel plans to re-carpet them in 2017 (a smart move, as there have been many guest complaints about worn carpets). Rooms are modern and elegant, with dark-brown headboards and furniture, accent walls with contemporary floral or vine patterns, and sophisticated chandeliers or lights suspended from the ceilings. Many rooms have lovely views of the ocean and beach. Amenities among rooms include flat-screen TVs, free bottled water, and kettles. Tower Suites and Family Suites have mini-fridges in the rooms. Bathrooms are equipped with shower/tub combos, Gilchrist & Soames toiletries, and hairdryers. Tower Suite bathrooms have separate jetted tubs and showers. Note that past guests have complained of grime in the bathrooms and bothersome noise from the next-door nightclub into the early morning hours.

Queens Hotel has a great selection of features for a property of its size, including an indoor swimming pool (purportedly the largest among Brighton hotels) plus a sauna and a spacious gym with weight-lifting and cardio equipment, free weights, and personal trainers. The hotel also has a spa offering beauty treatments and massages. For dining, No 1 Bar and Bistro offers local cuisine and seafood in a wood-floored room with brown high-backed chairs and panoramic views of the ocean. Afternoon tea and room service are both available, as is a breakfast buffet (included in rates) with hot and cold items. The hotel also offers three fully equipped meeting rooms, a public computer, and free hotel-wide Wi-Fi. Parking isn’t available on-site, though there are garages and parking lots within walking distance available for a fee.
