The Sakorn Residence is a quiet place in a residential area that caters to long-term visitors. There's a restaurant and a pool area, but neither get too busy, and the colorful little coffee shop has the most action at the property. The lobby is simply set with wooden furniture and little in the way of aesthetics, aside from a few Buddhist statues behind the front desk. Big rooms make it a good choice with families and groups, although the main market seems to be longer-term business visitors.

The Sakorn Residence is located on the quieter east side of the Ping River, about 20 minutes on foot from downtown Chiang Mai and the Night Bazaar. The hotel is set back from the street, with a lawn and the restaurant and coffeeshop separating it from traffic, so it's pretty quiet. While there are not as many restaurants and shops in the neighborhood as there are in downtown, it isn't far to find plenty to eat and drink, and taxis and tuk-tuks are readily available to go further afield. It's a 15-minute drive to the Old City and 20 to 25 minutes to the airport. 

The rooms at the Sakorn Residence are outfitted for long-term residents and feature large refrigerators, extra-big king beds, and kitchenettes with microwaves and cutlery in the Deluxe Rooms and Suites. Decor is relatively simple and includes little in the way of Thai floor. Think: tile floors and bold accent walls painted red or lime green.  All rooms have large flat-screen TVs with DVD players, electric kettles, and  small balconies. Superior Rooms only have walk-in showers, while the other room categories come with bathtubs. All have hairdryers. Windows overlook the parking lot or swimming pool. Wi-Fi is free in rooms and throughout the property. 

The Sakorn Residence features an outdoor swimming pool surrounded by cheap looking patio furniture. There's a sunny gym with cardio equipment and yoga mats. A free breakfast is served in the restaurant, and there is also a nice little coffee shop with colorful chairs and tables that serves gourmet coffee throughout the day.
