Heraklion International Airport is less than a half-hour drive west, and several historical destinations, including the Palace of Knossos, the Heraklion Archaeological Museum, and the Historical Museum of Crete, are within a 35-minute drive west as well. Other nearby attractions include the Cretaquarium and the Palace of Malia, the third largest Minoan palace on the island.

The 115 guest rooms at the Ntanelis have white walls, hard floors, and minimal decor, including bright-blue curtains and light-blue headboards. All spaces also have small balconies furnished with white plastic furniture. Some furnishings are dated, like wall-mounted tube-style TVs and pictures with brass frames. Bathrooms are small with handheld showers, and rooms are equipped with air-conditioning -- but a fee is imposed for use.

Amenities at the Ntanelis are limited, but what's offered is appreciated. The top-floor restaurant serves Greek fare buffet-style for breakfast and dinner, earning favorable reviews. The property is also a quick walk to the beach, one of its most valued assets, and there's an outdoor pool with both a shallow and deep end. The pool area has loungers for relaxing and trees providing shade. There’s a pool bar with covered seating. A classic bar and billiards table can be found in the lobby. Multilingual staff is available 24 hours, and car and motorbike rentals are available as well.
