With 229 rooms, Hotel Jezero is the biggest of the three government-run hotels located inside Plitvice National Park, which means it hosts the many organized tour groups who come to visit this natural landmark. The clientele tend to be older, especially outside the summer months when organized trips for seniors are at their peak. While public spaces such as the reception area, bar, and restaurant are spacious and bright, with lots of windows, the overall decor scheme is dated. Still, the hotel is well-maintained and public spaces are kept in immaculate shape.  

Hotel Jezero is located inside Plitvice National Park and just a six-minute walk away from entrance number one and a seven-minute walk to entrance number two. There’s a path with steps leading from the hotel down to Lake Kozjak, the park’s largest lake. The hotel is located in a quiet and beautiful natural setting and is somewhat isolated, so those wanting access to nearby villages and their grocery stores, cafes, and restaurants will need to have a car. The closest big city is Karlovac, a 70-minute drive away. The Zagreb airport is a two-hour drive away. 

Hotel Jezero is a big hotel, with 229 spacious, comfortable and clean guest rooms, including 14 suites with living areas (half of which also have dining areas), and five accessible units. Some rooms have adjoining doors. Many rooms have been completely remodeled, with soft gray carpeting, slate-gray bedding, and contemporary drapes and floor lamps. Others still have a dated look with loud bedspreads, clashing carpets in purple or teal, and basic wood headboards. Amenities include flat-screen TVs, minibars, and free Wi-Fi, but there's no air-conditioning and rooms lack coffee- and tea-making facilities. Bathrooms have either shower/tub combos or walk-in showers and sport white tile or '60-style pink tile. Some rooms overlook a noisy parking lot where the tour buses park -- for the best views, request a room with a balcony overlooking the lake.

Hotel Jezero has a surprising number of extra features. A free buffet breakfast is served in the huge 400-seat restaurant, where lunch and dinner are also available. And there’s a pleasant adjoining outdoor patio and a bar. The on-site fitness center is basic with a few cardio machines and weights, but the sauna has a large whirlpool tub big enough for 15 people. The hotel has a conference hall which can seat up to 250 guests, along with four meeting rooms. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel, but the connections can be slow at time.
