Orcagna Hotel is a contemporary boutique hotel with stylish interiors thanks to recent renovations (2014 to 2016). The lobby has a modern rustic vibe. The front desk is made of slated wooden boards and complements a wooden bench and a tastefully weathered leather sofa. Iron clock decorative pieces and a wooden communal table with metal legs add to the cozy but stylish vibe. The hotel has a charming breakfast room with a similar style, furnished with wooden booths along the walls and white tables and chairs. Black-and-white framed photographs and small potted plants on each table are a nice touch. There’s an outdoor brick-paved patio with a wooden deck where guests can take breakfast. A few tables and woven patio furniture provide seating. The hotel mainly attracts couples, who can be seen lounging on the patio or in the breakfast room in the mornings.

Orcagna Hotel is located about a 15-minute walk outside of Florence's historic center. There’s a bus stop that’s two minutes away on foot, as well as several restaurants and bars on surrounding streets of this residential neighborhood. Locals prefer to shop on Via Vincenzo Gioberti, which is just down the street from the hotel, a four-minute walk away. The iconic Duomo is about a 20-minute walk, while the Uffizi Gallery is 23 minutes away. For those who don't want to walk, most tourist attractions can be reached in about 15 minutes by bus. It's a 15-minute walk to the Campo di Marte train station (or a nine-minute bus ride), while Florence's Peretola Airport is around a 25-minute drive.

Rooms feature tasteful, contemporary decor with a brown-and-white color scheme that provides a neutral palette for eye-catching details like black-and-white framed photographs or small white and neon ceiling lights. Rooms are spacious with plank wood floors, white tufted headboards, bright white linens, and coffee-colored bed runners. Furniture varies, but all rooms have work desks and chairs. There’s no closet space, but the spaces have IKEA-like dressers with drawers and hanging racks. Standard features include free Wi-Fi, safes, minibars, and flat-screen TVs. Some rooms have terraces with tables and chairs, while the Penthouse is equipped with a terrace with a private hot tub. Bathrooms are modern with cream tiles, vessel sinks, bidets, and half-glass showers with rainfall showerheads. Toiletries and hairdryers are provided. Some sinks are separate from the showers and are located in the rooms. Some rooms have a whirlpool bathtub near the bed. Note that guests have complained of bothersome noise due to thin walls.

While the hotel doesn’t offer too many extras, it does the basics well. A free breakfast is served in a charming breakfast room and can be delivered to guest rooms. There’s a lovely outdoor patio with furniture and a hot tub -- but the adjacent buildings overlook the patio, making for a less-than-private experience.
