The cobalt-blue and white exterior of Katis Villa Boutique reads more like the Greek Islands than the Canaries. Its whitewashed exterior trimmed with cobalt-blue and domes and details feels fresh next to all the other resorts and residences in earth tones. As the name suggests, the property is a true boutique resort, with just 17 villas on offer. Each villa is its own hideaway, with a pool, whirlpool (in most), and rooftop terrace, drawing guests that appreciate total privacy and the intimate scale. There’s no shared pool or lounge spaces, but guests do have access to an elegant restaurant serving all meals and a petite spa. Still, most guests don’t linger here, as they tend to prefer the intimate scale and tranquility of their self-contained accommodations.

Katis is located in the north of Fuerteventura, by Corralejo but a bit inland. It’s walking distance to a pizzeria, shops, bars, and a grocery store, but the big sand-dune beaches are a nine-minute drive away. It’s also a 10-minute drive to reach the heart of town, which offers a larger selection of restaurants, shops, nightclubs, bars, and more boisterous action. The local airport is a 40-minute drive away.

The Grecian look from the resort’s exterior is carried into its 17 villas with marvelous results. Whitewashed walls and floors reflect the natural sunlight, and cobalt-blue details add a splash of oceanic elegance. Decorative details vary a bit depending on the room’s category -- Greek Style, Bali Style, and Classic Style – which can add a Buddha head sculpture or decorative molding on the walls. But all maintain the same base blue-and-white backdrop, with accents such as gauzy chiffon canopies over the beds and model boats perched in the living rooms. “Unique Villas” add a few more decorative flourishes and have extra perks such as a corner location or bigger kitchens. Units have three bedrooms, and each has its own en-suite bathroom covered in white tile with walk-in showers. 

All villas come with their own private pool surrounded by loungers and greenery (some even have little islands topped with palm trees). Stairs from here lead to the rooftop terraces with gorgeous 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains. Tables, chairs, and grills here make these a good spot for a barbecue. Most units also have rooftop whirlpools. Amenities include individual climate controls, safes, free Wi-Fi, and irons and ironing boards. Flat-screen TVs carry international channels, and the sound-system extends throughout the house, so music can be heard out by the pool. (Two units do lack this sound system.) Each unit has a well-equipped kitchen with a burner, sink, microwave, fridge, sizable freezer, dishwasher, and stove-top burners. Appliances include washing machines, electric kettles, toasters, and coffeemakers (pod-style coffeemakers are available on request). Housekeeping, however, only comes every four days. 

Features at Katis are focused on the individual villas and there's little in the way of public spaces or shared facilities. The restaurant serves all meals, but they aren’t included in the room rates (though some packages include breakfast). Apart from treatments offer by the spa, guests can also request in-room massages. Cribs and high chairs can be requested as well. Babysitting and private chefs are available. Wi-Fi is free, and free private parking is right next to each villa.
