Once guests arrive at La Quinta Gran Bahia, they'll enter the airy, high-ceilinged lobby with a large, hanging art fixture that resembles jellyfish. The spacious area has shiny tile floors, beige walls, and a few wicker couches and chairs. Through the other side is the pool, restaurant, and beach just beyond. The atmosphere is lively and as most guests are families, typically Mexican, there are often activities happening poolside in Spanish and kids running around. While the grounds have lovely palm trees, flowers, and water fountains, there's some debris and wear throughout. For instance, just off the pool is a walkway where very old gym equipment and a ping-pong table sit on scuffed tile. The joint tennis and basketball courts are also quite worn. But low-key families who simply want a beachfront location with entertainment from an animation team don't seem to mind.

Cuastecomates is a small town in the Mexican state of Jalisco, located on the Pacific coast. It's situated on a secluded bay, and across the water are lush hillsides that make for a gorgeous setting. Along the bay are several inexpensive restaurants. The more vibrant town of Melaque is a 10-minute drive away, and Barra de Navidad is a 15-minute drive from the hotel. There's free parking at the hotel, but cabs are cheap and the hotel will call one for guests. The Playa de Oro International Airport is a 40-minute drive away. 

There are 75 rooms at the hotel, all either Deluxe King or Deluxe Double rooms. Decorated in the same style, they feature black wooden furniture, beige tile floors that match the walls, and a pair of blue chairs with green pillows. Beds are comfy, with white sheets and blue bed runners. Flat-screen TVs, air conditioners, and red modern artwork are also standard. Bathrooms are modern and very clean, with walk-in showers that have a half door, rainfall showerheads, and basic toiletries that include shampoo and soap only. Two water bottles are also provided, as the water is not potable.  All rooms have ocean-facing balconies, but they're unfurnished. There are a few minor stains on furnishings. 

The best feature of the hotel is the beach area, where there's a small section of loungers under umbrellas, though some are missing cushions. Note that it's public and vendors are constantly strolling by. The pool has a volleyball net, swim-up bar (not always staffed), and is surrounded by several umbrellas and plastic loungers with blue cushions. Between the pool and beach is a grassy area with a children's playground and more loungers. Other features include the joint tennis and basketball courts, and kayaks. During the day, the animation team directs activities by the pool and at night they perform various acts, including comedy shows or dances. Note that the entertainment runs until very late and is very loud for many of the rooms. 

The on-site restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, and is open for all three meals. All-inclusive packages are available for the buffet-style meals, but food receives mixed reviews. There are plenty of options for both children and adults. The restaurant has a bar, or guests can grab a drink at the swim-up bar, if it's staffed.
