Contemporary interiors are clean and pleasant, with the typical chain-like style found among Hyatt properties. A rounded front desk morphs into the hotel’s coffee and cocktail bar on the other side of a green curved wall. Chic, patterned upholstered or leather chairs and tables are grouped here and there on carpets or in small enclaves making for an atmosphere that encourages camaraderie. Hallways have a patterned carpet in neutral tones and standard abstract pieces on the walls. Overall, decor is bland, but the property is clean and pleasant, catering to families and business travelers seeking something close to the airport.

Hyatt Place Kansas City Airport is located on the northern edge of Kansas City, far from the bustle of the city center. It's just a seven-minute drive to Kansas City International Airport, and the hotel offers a free shuttle service to and from the airport as well as within a three-mile radius of the hotel during specific hours. There are several restaurants within walking distance, including a neighboring Waffle House and Ruby Tuesday. It’s a four-minute car ride to Zona Rosa Mall, while Tiffany Greens Golf Course can be reached in six minutes by car. The more popular attractions of Kansas City are a 25-minute drive away. 

The hotel's 134 guest rooms feature simple decor that's a bit bland and typical of a chain, though pleasant, with a neutral color palette and wooden furnishings. The rooms are spacious, with living areas that are partially partitioned off from the bedrooms and furnished with pullout sofas and wet bars. Rooms are conveniently equipped with work desks, mini-fridges, flat-screen TVs, and coffee/tea-makers. Guests should note that some complaints have been made about noisy air-conditioner units. Bathrooms are small, though they feature separate sink areas with vanities and large mirrors. Shower/tub combos are standard, and the hotel provides hairdryers and toiletries as well. 

Though there's no full restaurant on-site, the hotel provides a free breakfast buffet in the mornings, and there's also a small market in the lobby with grab-and-go items such as sandwiches and drinks. The lobby bar serves Starbucks coffee as well as cocktails in the evening, with a Manager’s Happy Hour that offers half-price drinks and appetizers. Room service is also available 24 hours.

The 24-hour fitness center offers a decent selection of cardio machines with LCD touch screens, weight machines, free weights, and headphones. Parking is free on-site, plus the hotel offers a free area shuttle within a three-mile radius, as well as an airport shuttle.
