Hotel Wyspianski

The Hotel Wyspianski is an average three-pearl property housed in a four-story beige building built in 1963, with a dated Soviet-style vibe and rows of identical inset balconies. A newer section was added in the 2000s and is attached by a covered walkway. Inside, the lobby decor is simple and bland. White tile floors, a wood reception desk, cream-colored walls, and fluorescent lighting provide a basic backdrop. A few dark green vinyl couches give guests a place to sit. The hotel restaurant and bar feel a bit more modern -- pendant lights hang over the bar, and the restaurant features a nice inset ceiling. Overall, the outdated interiors are stuck in the '80s and the hotel is in need of refurbishment. The convenient location is the main selling point, and with over 200 rooms, this hotel attracts budget travelers, including tour groups. 

Guests agree that one of the hotel's best assets is its location close to Old Town and in walking distance to restaurants, shops, and transportation. While the immediate neighborhood isn't particularly interesting, the hotel is situated directly on the main road that runs parallel to the green belt encircling Krakow's Old Town area, and the heart of the city (Main Market Square) is just a seven-minute walk from here. The hotel has a guarded parking area with limited spots, but this costs an extra fee. An airport shuttle is available as well for an extra fee.

The hotel's 231 rooms are split over the original section and a newer section of the property, which is situated in a separate building connected by an interior walkway. Rooms are clean, but tend to be small and dated, with decor that's a throwback to the '80s. Guests agree the newer rooms feel more updated and show less wear-and-tear. Room categories include Standard, Classic, and Premium rooms with single, double, or twin beds.

A Standard Twin room might have orange/brown wall-to-wall carpeting, white walls, and matching wooden headboards and furniture. Twin beds may be faced head-to-foot, and some double beds consist of two twins pushed together. Armchairs and desk chairs are upholstered in pea green vinyl, while drapes match colored bedspreads. Bathrooms vary but tend to be tiny, with toilets, sinks, and shower stalls. They come equipped with hairdryers, towels, and soap dispensers. Some upgraded rooms are spacious, plus some have balconies with nice street views (others face the parking lot).

In-room amenities include small desks and some wardrobe storage space, as well as TVs, radios, free bottled water, and free Wi-Fi. Premium Rooms include tea and coffee-making facilities and sitting areas. Guests can request irons, ironing boards, and safes. But there's no air-conditioning or mini-fridges. Guest do complain about noise from traffic, particularly in street-facing rooms. All rooms are smoke-free.

The Wyspianski has a small but pleasant lobby bar open from morning until late, and it offers outdoor terrace seating. A modern restaurant can accommodate up to 140 guests and often hosts tour groups staying at the hotel. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner in addition to an adequate daily breakfast buffet, which includes hot and cold items, but this costs an extra fee. Room service is also available 24/7.

The hotel has conference facilities with several meeting rooms that can host a combined total of approximately 250 guests. Conference rooms are air-conditioned and audiovisual equipment is available for a rental fee. The front desk is open 24/7 and staff can help book tours or arrange for car rentals, laundry service, airport transfers, etc. Luggage storage and safes are available at the front desk. The hotel also has a gym, but it must be booked. This property is pet friendly and accepts dogs and cats. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. Limited parking is available for an extra fee.
