The Lords Hotel occupies a classic townhouse across from a small park, surrounded by similar Victorians that are much nicer. There's a small lobby with a reception desk and a brochure rack that opens to a central stairwell. The breakfast room is relatively spacious and tidy, with basic tables and chairs and a few prints on walls, as is the TV lounge, which has a mishmash of furniture but lovely, arched bay windows that hint at the building's history. Overall, the hotel is convenient for unfussy guests who want to be close to Hyde Park and Notting Hill, and it caters to budget travelers and groups.

The hotel is located on a quiet street across from a small park in the Bayswater neighborhood, with plenty of restaurants and shops in the surrounding area. Kensington Palace and its gardens next to Hyde Park is a 14-minute walk away, while Portobello Market in Notting Hill takes 15 minutes to reach on foot. However, other major attractions must be reached by public transportation. Luckily, the Bayswater tube station is only six minutes away on foot, which makes for an easy 25- to 35-minute ride to central attractions such as Buckingham Palace. It’s a 35-minute drive to London Heathrow Airport. 

Guest rooms at Lords Hotel are extremely basic, with off-white walls and simple wood veneer furniture. Most are small and cramped, though the fairly high ceilings provide some relief. All accommodations have twin mattresses, with room sizes ranging from tiny singles to larger group and family rooms that sleep up to six, and add wooden bunk beds. Standard furniture includes dressers, narrow storage shelves with space to hang clothes, and plastic chairs. The bathrooms are prefabricated plastic jobs with tiny stall showers (think airplane lavatory with a shower). Small flat-screen TVs are mounted on walls, but there are no kettles, and in-room Wi-Fi costs extra.  

A free continental breakfast is served in a large space with cafeteria-style seating in three connecting rooms. Facilities are slim at the Lords Hotel, with the only other public space being a TV lounge with bay windows, cushioned wooden chairs, and a brown sectional sofa. There's also a luggage storage room. Travelers with limited mobility should be aware that the hotel lacks an elevator.
