In a city known for over-the-top, honeymoon-worthy all-inclusive resorts and grimy budget dives, Los Milagros Hotel provides just the opposite. Thick vines and tropical greenery envelope the tiny garden patio and pool areas, creating an intimate atmosphere that feels far more secluded than the hotel's city center location should allow. This is a simple, boutique-inspired budget hotel with a little more style than competitors like Hotel Mar de Cortez, which is just around the corner. The decor features an eclectic mix of standard patio furniture, ornate fountains, and Turkish-style accents, creating public areas that are more thoughtfully executed than the crash pads throughout most of downtown. With a lack of any kid-centric amenities and most rooms featuring a single bed, the hotel is targeting a mostly adult clientele seeking a relaxed, unpretentious place to escape the tourist hustle of downtown Cabo San Lucas.

Situated on a relatively quiet residential street in downtown Cabo San Lucas, the hotel feels a bit more secluded than it really is. However, guests are still within a five to 10-minute walk of the city’s most famous points of interest. Cabo Wabo Cantina, Squid Roe, and the city’s popular marina are roughly two to three blocks away. Playa Medano public beach -- one of the area’s most beautiful (and popular) -- is a 15-minute walk from the property, or just five minutes by taxi. Those looking for a day trip or a break from Cabo San Lucas' boozy goings on can visit San Jose del Cabo, which is filled with art galleries and cafes, and is a 30-minute drive from the hotel. The largest and most convenient airport to the city -- Los Cabos International (SJD) -- is 35 minutes from the hotel by car. 

Room decor is simple and homey, with a mostly modern finish and a few quaint homey details that give everything a bit more personality than other nearby budget properties. White stucco walls surround an eclectic mix of cozy furnishings that all seem uniquely selected for each room. There’s a distinct “bed-and-breakfast” feel, and we especially like accents such as vaulted brick ceilings and terra-cotta tile floors that we saw in some rooms that we visited. Shades of green and white complement variable decor that includes wrought-iron bed frames and distressed furniture.

While every room is unique, the hotel offers three defined room categories. Standard Queen Rooms and Twin Rooms both have similar layouts and square footage, but differ in the bed configuration (either a single queen or two double beds). Air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi and cable TVs are standard, although some rooms feature old, tube-style televisions. Mini-fridges are optional. Upgraded Junior Suites feature the above amenities and have a larger floor plan, with separate sleeping, living, and dining areas plus a kitchenette (with a microwave and electric cooktop). Bathrooms are modern and clean, with stand-up shower stalls and generic, pump-style soaps are standard.

Given its boutique budget status, it's no surprise that features are limited here, and most guests are out day and night. The two-story garden terrace offers ample wrought-iron patio seating enveloped by lush greenery and tropical plants that create a quiet, intimate vibe. The outdoor pool is tiny and, due to its shaded location, some guests complain that it’s cold. A spacious -- and mostly empty -- garden area adjacent to the parking lot doubles as a quaint, outdoor event space. Ample street parking is available or guests can opt to park in a gated, off-street lot for a fee. Wi-Fi is available throughout the property and we found the service to be fast and reliable.
