Bottom Line

The 328-room Amadil Beach is a large, family-friendly hotel with a three-and-a-half-pearl rating and attractive all-inclusive packages. Its location opposite Agadir Beach is handy for accessing the hotel's private beach section, and on-site facilities include multiple pools, waterslides, adult and kids' entertainment, and both a la carte and buffet restaurants. Unfortunately, guests generally find food and evening entertainment mediocre. Additionally, a lovely spa has an indoor pool, Turkish bath, and massage rooms. Contemporary rooms are bright, albeit a bit bland, and outfitted with furnished balconies, flat-screen TVs, and minibars. Note that in-room safes require a fee, and there are no kettles provided. It's worth considering the similar LTI Agadir Beach Club, which has slightly lower rates.

Oyster Hotel Review

Atlas Amadil Beach Aqua Sun

Scene

All-inclusive hotel with lots of family-friendly amenities

The location is a big draw here, as the hotel's huge structure is separated from the beach by Agadir's lively promenade. Renovations throughout the years have modernized rooms and many common spaces, although traditional tiling, jewel tones, and crushed velvets retain Moorish charm in parts. Much the like the pools, waterslides, and palm-flanked terraces forming the outdoor atrium, indoor spaces are large. The vast lobby's patterned marbles and floor-to-ceiling fountain overlook staggered lounge clusters, indoor plants, and a gazebo, but woods here are dated. Despite its multiple (and mostly all-inclusive) dining outlets, food is reportedly average, as are local evening singers, but daytime water aerobics, evening belly dancers, and kids' animation are good, plus guests can hit the hotel-owned beach stretch across the street. Expect plenty of activity, and unfortunately, lots of noise, but a midday siesta period pauses poolside music for a few hours.

Location

Agadir Promenade location, a short drive from attractions

The hotel occupies a great spot on Agadir Beach's lively promenade, where wide avenues front the Atlantic Ocean's golden sands, and the hotel owns a private stretch here (loungers and umbrellas are provided). Strolls along the promenade are pleasant, and a string of eateries, nightclubs, and fast-food joints are within a 15-minute walk. It's closer to 45 minutes on foot for Agadir Marina's boutiques, but many guests enjoy the walk. Cheap taxis can get you to downtown Agadir, its Medina, 1541-built Kasbah, and Souk El-Had's numerous market stalls within ten minutes. Multiple golf courses are a similar distance. Agadir-Inezgane Airport is 17 minutes away by car.

Rooms

Contemporary, chain-like rooms with glitzy bathrooms and furnished balconies

All with furnished balconies overlooking pools or the sea (in upgraded units), contemporary rooms lack character, but their neutral white-and-sand palettes are well-appointed, and back-lit ceilings look fresh. IKEA-like wooden furniture is accented by silver-and-teal floral drapes and striped bed skirts. Shimmery mosaic-tiled bathrooms are ritzy, and have large walk-in showers, hairdryers, and toiletries. Standard Rooms measure 280 square feet (26 square meters, while two-bedroom Family Rooms measure 560 square feet (52 square meters). Amenities include phones, desks, small seating areas, minibars, AC, and flat-screen TVs with limited English-language channels. On the downside, no kettles are provided, and safes are at a fee. Rooms can be subject to noise from the bar, but evening entertainment stops at 11 p.m.

Features

Outdoor pools with waterslides and animation, and all-inclusive food and drinks

All-inclusive features here are geared toward families, particularly poolside, where guests will find two large pools and two kiddy ones, five waterslides, and ample terrace space with palm-flanked lawns, loungers, and umbrellas. Accompanying music is present most of the day, alongside animation and a full kids' club. Note that pools are unheated, but they're fine in the summer. A private stretch of Agadir Beach is lined with free loungers for guests.

Restaurants and bars aren't short on space, but guests find food disappointing, particularly at the main buffet (although breakfast pancakes here are popular). Italian eatery, La Vague, is breezy from tan-leather chairs and bright aqua tablecloths. Moroccan Dar Fes' embroidered silks, Zellige tiling, and deep reds are atmospheric, and al fresco dining is popular. The pool bar serves drinks and snacks all day, and there's a lobby bar. Note, all-inclusive packages don't cover premium liquors or cocktails.

Wellness amenities are good, but sadly there's a charge to access the indoor pool, gym, sauna, whirlpool, and Turkish hammam forming them. Still, Moorish decor such as draped silks and lanterns is lovely here, and treatments and a hair salon are available. The on-site mini-market sells essentials. Pets are not permitted. A business center, meeting rooms, free parking, 24-hour concierge, and free Wi-Fi throughout round out available features.
