Hotel Guonod Nice sits in a Belle Epoque-style town house built in 1905. Though it has a lovely façade, the hotel looks a bit weary inside. Furniture and decor in the public spaces and rooms are dated and include a mix of different styles. The hotel may have a fairly quiet and relaxed atmosphere, but that might be because there are no public spaces beyond the small breakfast room. The hotel isn’t designed for lingering; most guests make their way to the sister hotel that is just a minutes’ walk away, to use their outstanding facilities. 

Nice is a fairly walkable beach town and it’s easy to get around on foot from Hotel Guonod Nice. It’s a seven-minute walk to the beach and the promenade from the property. The Nice Cathedral is a 22-minute walk away, and Terra Amata takes 35 minutes to reach. There’s a mall that’s 13 minutes away on foot, and plenty of restaurants and bars are easy to access on surrounding streets. It’s a 13-minute drive to Nice Cote d’Azur Airport. 

The 43 rooms are split between those that have a contemporary design and others that are done in a more traditional style. Overall, they all feature a fairly warm design with brown undertones and provide plenty of space. All rooms are fairly dated and show visible wear like nicked furniture or worn carpet. Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, and free Wi-Fi. Safes can be requested and a few rooms have mini-fridges. Some Suites have sofa beds. Bathrooms feature a cream and brown color scheme and appear more updated than the rooms. They're equipped with a mix of showers, shower/tub combos, tubs with showerheads, and separate showers and tubs. Hairdryers and toiletries are provided. Some rooms face the pleasant street and have balconies, while others overlook a dark, internal courtyard. 

Hotel Guonod Nice fares poorly for on-site amenities. The highlight to booking here is gaining free access to amenities (pool, restaurant, whirlpool, spa, and gym) at their sister hotel: Splendid Hotel & Spa. Beyond free Wi-Fi, parking for a fee, and a public desktop Mac computer and printer, Hotel Guonod's main feature is a hot breakfast buffet offered in the mornings. It generally costs a hefty fee, though the hotel offers it for a more reasonable price if you book a “room only” rate through their website and then add the meal on to your booking at the end. Pets are also welcome here. There’s free access to a private beach club in the summer.
