Spread across the hilltops overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Las Brisas is a lively all-inclusive resort. Rooms are divided into hotel-designated pueblas -- smaller village-like arrangements -- and set across the hills away from the main hub of the hotel. This does mean that getting around requires a bit of walking -- or using the hotel's 24-hour shuttle -- but also helps keep the rooms quiet. Style at Las Brisas is fairly simple, with soft colors, marble, and wood used throughout, though some spots do look a bit tired. The resort's main hub is vibrant and lively, with families and couples at the pools, music playing throughout the day at Bar Las Brisas, and travelers coming and going from the beaches. Bar La Brisas stays open late into the night and features live music or DJs, though without any 24-hour drinking venues open, again, things do stay relatively calm here. At night, the restaurants range from tranquil and romantic to lively. Guests should note that many of the restaurants do have dress codes, despite the resort's overall laid-back vibe. Expect to see families and couples here, most from the United States. 

Las Brisas is located on a series of secluded hilltops overlooking Tangolunda Bay. There are a number of other massive resorts nearby, though you really wouldn't go walking about as there's nothing much to see close to the resort. Indeed, there are three beaches on-site, so there's little incentive to leave. However, Santa Cruz is an eight-minute drive from the hotel if you're looking for a lively social scene with bars, restaurants, markets, and shops. The restaurants and shops of Las Crucecitas, including a massive Super Che store, are a 10-minute drive from the hotel. Should you want to switch up your beach-going, popular Chahue Beach is a five-minute drive from the resort. It's also about a 10-minute drive to Huatulco National Park for hiking trails and unspoiled beaches. The hotel is a 25-minute drive from the Huatulco International Airport. 

There’s a bit of a disparity between the rooms at Las Brisas. Some are spacious and pleasantly modern while others are smaller and could use an update. Rooms are separated into pueblas -- Mars, Nubes, Estrellas, and Montañas -- with Mars having the most modern units of the bunch. During our 2017 visit, the rooms we saw featured hardwood details, marble accents, and soft colors, with just a few touches of local Mexican style. Standard features include flat-screen TVs, minibars, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, and free Wi-Fi. Keep in mind that Wi-Fi can be spotty, at best. Many rooms have balconies with hot tubs overlooking the ocean, though it's worth noting that some rooms lack either terraces or sea views. Check ahead if you're craving outdoor space. Chocolates are provided during turndown service, which is a nice extra. Bathrooms range in size, but have a generous amount of vanity space and walk-in showers. Neutrogena bath products and hairdryers are provided, though only some bathrooms feature rainfall showerheads. 

Las Brisas has plenty of features to keep everyone busy. Given its isolated location away from the main Tangolunda development, the beaches manage to stay private (despite Mexican laws that make all beaches public). You see, the public can't reach the beaches because they're closed off by natural rock formations and natural barriers, unlike the beaches on the other side of the bay. Manzanilla Beach is the resort's main beach for guests to relax, sunbathe, and swim. It has a few thatched sunshades and lounge chairs for guests to use. Tornillo Beach is where you'll find water sports like Jet Skis, kayaks, and Hobie Cat catamarans. Snorkeling or swimming take place at Ventura Beach. None are particularly close to most of the rooms, but the resort's shuttle runs to all. Beach service is available.

The hotel has three pools for guests to choose from -- the main infinity pool, an adult-only option, and an activities pool. All look out over the ocean. With the exception of the adult-only pool, they can get busy with families during the day. Music plays throughout the day, and at night there's live music or DJs. A spacious kids’ club is also available. It includes a pool, trampolines, hammocks, and a game area. The fitness center has modern cardio equipment, while tennis courts and sports fields round out the list of amenities here. 

Shuttles run throughout the day and evening, taking guests to the beach, lobby, restaurants, and pool area. There's plenty of free self parking available. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel, but is extremely spotty in the rooms and even some of the common areas.

There are a number of dining options at the hotel, ranging from casual to more formal outposts. All-inclusive rates are generous, and cover all restaurants and snacks, though those wanting premium beverage options will need to upgrade to club-level stays. Keep in mind that there are no 24-hour bars at this resort. 

Bellavista is the main restaurant, situated adjacent to the lobby and serving buffets for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Most previous guests are happy with the amount of options on offer, which include Mexican and American fare. The open-air La Pergola serves casual grill fare for lunch, as well as snacks. It turns into a romantic a la carte seafood spot in the evenings, called El Pescador. 

There are several other a la carte dinner options here, though keep in mind that all require reservations and dress codes are enforced at some. Overlooking Tornillo Beach, Solarium serves barbecues with dishes like grilled pineapple, shrimp and fish, and beef dishes in a rustic setting. Mediterraneo serves cuisine from southern Europe while La Kasbah offers Middle Eastern fare. El Mexicano rounds out the list of dining options, serving traditional Oaxacan fare. Open for a la carte dinners, but also for a buffet breakfasts, it features alfresco dining while looking out over the beach. 

Guests should note that like many hotels in the area, the a la carte restaurants are open based on the occupancy of the hotel. Room service is available throughout the day, but costs extra.
