With a white facade, Hotel Verneuil is housed in a historic Parisian-style building from the 17th century. Hanging plants and short black railings accent the front windows. Inside, the lobby resembles a cozy, family-style living room. Wooden ceilings and floors are homey touches, as is the wood-burning fireplace surrounded by shelves of books. A collection of liquor bottles and an espresso machine are placed on an antique dresser. Two blue armchairs and a soft gray sofa sit in front of two black circular tables on an accent rug in front of the fireplace. Downstairs, the breakfast area is in a stone-lined, vaulted room. The space is cozy, and well-lit with lamps. 

Hotel Verneuil is on a quiet and mostly residential street in the Saint Germain des Prés district of Paris. Many of the city's popular attractions are within walking distance, as are several restaurants and shops. The Musee Louvre is less than 10 minutes away by foot. Notre Dame Cathedral is a 20-minute leisurely stroll down the Seine River. Charles de Gaulle Airport is 45 minutes driving from the hotel. There isn't any parking on-site, but there is a public parking structure near the hotel. A beauty salon is just next door.

There are three types of rooms among the 26 at Hotel Verneuil: classic, club, and deluxe. Those who get claustrophobic easily should probably book the deluxe rooms, as the other two categories are notably cramped. However, all rooms are elegant and include views of the courtyard or quiet street. Flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi round out the available technology while minibars are a nice perk. Most of the rooms are painted in shades of gray and white with the occasional pop of orange. A collection of beveled mirrors hangs on the wall. Matching black lamp sconces flank the beds. Some bathrooms have smallish bathtubs. Rainfall showerheads and L' Occitane toiletries are luxurious, as are towel warmers for heating up plush bath towels. Cleanliness isn't an issue, though thin walls can be. Past guests have complained about a lack of storage space in the rooms and bathrooms.

In Paris, there's often a tradeoff between features and space or location. At Hotel Verneuil you're definitely getting an excellent home base for exploring the city, but you're sacrificing features. A substantial breakfast is served in a vaulted basement (it can also be delivered to guest's rooms), but it comes with a fee. A small bar and coffee machine suffice for a quick refreshment. Thankfully, there are almost endless cafes, restaurants, and patisseries within walking distance of the hotel. Free Wi-Fi and a laptop computer with a printer are available for guests to use throughout their stay.
