The Red Planet Pattaya stands out among its surroundings, with its signature red-and-white color scheme easily visible among the other high rises on the block. This value property, formerly known as Tune Hotel, is simple and straightforward, but interiors are sleek and contemporary; the lobby also has a vivid red-and-white motif, while floor-to-ceiling windows and a glass entrance make it feel light and airy. Red bench seating looks sharp against the white tile floor, while red accent walls match the gleaming crimson front desk. There are no areas for guests to hang out or mingle, though there is a branch of the Tom 'N Toms coffee chain downstairs. Guests here are mostly couples, though some families and business travelers stay as well.

The hotel sits on a bustling block in north central Pattaya, across the street from Central Center Pattaya, one of the city's largest shopping malls. The surrounding streets are lined with convenience stores, shops, and restaurants. Pattaya Beach is only a five-minute walk from the hotel, as are Alcazar Cabaret and Tiffany's Show, both popular drag cabarets in town. Art in Paradise, a popular interactive museum for families, is also five-minute walk from the hotel. The notorious nightlife of Walking Street and The Sanctuary of Truth -- a stunning all-wood temple -- are within a 15-minute drive. The closest airport, Utapao International Airport, is a 50-minute drive fmor the hotel, while Suvarnabhumi Airport and Bangkok can take up to two hours to reach depending on traffic.

Neutrals dominate the simple yet stylish rooms, which have wood floors and brown drapes alongside crisp white bedding. Rooms are quite small and can feel cramped; they lack mini-fridges and bottled water is not provided. For this location, though, and for being thoroughly clean and attractive, the rates here can't be beat. Amenities include air-conditioning, 32-inch flat-screen TVs, safes, and ceiling fans. Frosted glass doors lead to tiny bathrooms, which are modern, but plain, and covered in tan tile. Walk-in rainfall showers punch above the hotel’s pearl ranking, and generic toiletries are offered. Along with the budget rates come advertisements for various Red Planet chain offers -- it's not the most appealing decor, but isn't obtrusive either. 

This basic, budget hotel has limited features, though there is a computer station in the lobby. High-speed Wi-Fi and parking are free, however, the on-site parking spaces are limited. Though the hotel doesn't have a restaurant or bar, though there is an adjacent cafe on the ground level of the building.
