Bottom Line

Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Seoul Myeong-dong is a large upper-middle-range property in the Myeong-dong shopping district, three blocks from the subway. The location is pedestrian-only during hotel business hours, so guests must get dropped off nearby. Part of a Japanese chain, the property is modern, elegant, and caters mainly to tourists. The 312 rooms are warmly decorated and feature flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and free Wi-Fi, and many have excellent views of the city, but some don't have windows. On-site features include a spacious 21st-floor lounge with incredible city views, a buffet restaurant and bar, and a 24-hour business center. A women's floor and a smoking room are available, but there is no gym. As an alternative, Lotte City Hotel Mapo, while not as well located for tourists, offers an indoor pool, a fitness center, and meeting rooms.

Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Seoul Myeong-dong

Scene

Outstanding views and contemporary business-like decor

Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Seoul Myeong-dong is part of the Nishitetsu Hotel Group, a Japanese chain with 20 branches throughout the country; this is the first international branch. The property has a modern look that begins with a glassy entranceway to the gray building. Interiors are contemporary and somewhat business-like. In the 21st-floor lounge/lobby, numerous beige couches offer guests a place to relax, while soft gray rugs, glass vases of white lilies, and shimmering dangling lights create a stylish and comfortable space. Numerous floor-to-ceiling windows feature incredible views of the city. The restaurant has a warmer feeling thanks to wood furniture, exposed light-brick walls, and soft gray seating. The hotel mainly attracts Japanese tourists, as well as some business travelers and tourists from other countries.
