The Smart Hotel is housed in a four-floor main building and annex, both modern in their design. The well-maintained public spaces have a contemporary look, with warm earth tones and ample soft seating. Overall, the interiors aren’t particularly enticing, but the hotel is comfortable and it has a practical, functional feel. There's no wellness or leisure facilities on-site, but guests gather in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner, which has a bar and outdoor terrace. Leisure travelers are lured here by the room rates, which are generally lower than central Venice hotels. 

Smart Hotel Holiday is in the suburb of Mestre, off the Via Martiri della Liberta/Strada Regionale 14 ring road for easy access by car to the city, airport, highways, and surrounding area. It’s well outside central Venice, but the Rielta tram stop is a five-minute walk, and it reaches Piazzale Roma in the city in about 20 minutes. The Pergola bus stop is also a five-minute walk from the hotel. A supermarket and a few shops and restaurants are within 10 minutes on foot, but there’s not much to do in the immediate area of the hotel. 

Albanese Park and the expansive San Giuliano Park is a seven-minute drive or 20 minutes by bus. The center of Mestre is 10 minutes by car or 20 minutes by tram, and here visitors will find a movie theater, nightlife, bars, restaurants, and Piazza Ferretto, with the Torre dell’Orologio clock tower. Forte Marghera is an eight-minute drive or 32 minutes by bus from the hotel. Venice Mestre train station is a 10-minute drive from the hotel, and reaching Venice Marco Polo Airport takes about the same amount of time, or 20 minutes by bus and/or tram. 

Guests rooms at the Smart Hotel Holiday are more spacious than that of most central Venice hotels. Rooms are contemporary, but some might find the all-neutral color palette, bare walls, and white bedding bland. All 97 units are well-maintained, and they come with air-conditioning, beds with memory foam mattresses, plus desks, safes, minibars, and small flat-screen TVs, and some feature seating areas with sofas. There's free basic in-room Wi-Fi, but high-speed service costs extra, and rooms lack electric kettles. The well-lighted bathrooms have showers or shower/tub combos, makeup mirrors, bidets, heated towel racks, hairdryers, and toiletries. Like many European hotels, the showerheads are handheld. 

Guests are served a breakfast buffet (fee for most bookings) with scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, and a wide array of cold fare, and it generally gets positive reviews from guests. There's also a restaurant that serves traditional Italian cuisine for dinner, and lunch upon request, and it has a bar with an outdoor terrace. The hotel has no fitness or wellness facilities on-site. 

Other amenities and services include a 24-hour front desk with tourist assistance (all-access Venice transit passes are available for purchase), shuttle to Venice with drop-off at Piazzale Roma (fee), public computer, and free basic Wi-Fi. High-speed service costs extra, but on-site parking is free. The hotel allows one pet per room (under 27 pounds) for a nightly fee.
