The white-carved, pink-accented exterior of the favehotel Umalas mimics the modern, minimalist style of the open-air interior. A gray front desk with neon pink accents complements green and pink mod-style chairs, while floor-to-ceiling windows make the space bright. Contemporary green accents adorn the indoor/outdoor Lime Restaurant & Bar, with green and yellow chairs as well as blown-up photos of musicians on the walls. A pool table and black bar area are offered in addition to outdoor poolside seating. The grounds at the back of the hotel are distinctive, with long reflecting pools, contemporary sculptural elements, and thatched massage huts surrounding a striking chapel that's available for events and ceremonies. Guests gather around the fairly large, family-friendly pool, with most guests being tourists on holiday.

The favehotel Umalas is on the outskirts of Seminyak, Bali, on Petitenget Road, which has several restaurants, shops, and convenience stores in every direction. The back of the hotel abuts tranquil rice paddies, though the beach and center of town aren't exactly within walking distance (both can be reach in over 20 minutes on foot). The TAKSU Bali Gallery, Petitenget Temple, Seminyak Square, and Seminyak Beach are about a five-minute drive away. Legian Beach and Kuta Beach are about 15 minutes away by car. Discovery Shopping Mall, Waterbom Park, and Canggu Beach are within 20 minutes by car, while Ngurah Rai International Airport is a 25-minute drive.

Modern rooms reflect the neon-colored motifs throughout the hotel's common areas, with blown-up hot pink beach and nature photos mounted on the walls above the duvet-covered beds. Many rooms have balconies with rice field views, but most rooms are small by Bali standards, starting at just 18 square meters (194 square feet). Air conditioning and 26-inch flat-screen TVs are provided in addition to free bottled water. Decor is limited to the bright photos over the beds, and rooms are spare otherwise, with white walls, tiled floors, and light wood desks and headboards. Superior Rooms are a bit larger than Standard Rooms, but still offer limited furniture. Bathrooms are contemporary, with tan countertops, raised modern bowl sinks, and glassed-in showers with rainfall showerheads. There is a slightly cheap feeling to these rooms, a vibe created by elements like wall-mounted soap dispensers, the spare furniture and wall art, and minor upkeep and wear and tear issues.

The blue-tile outdoor pool has a shallow area and a stone feature wall with a fountain as well as basketball hoops, making this a family-friendly place to relax. The entire area is surrounded by greenery and tan lounge chairs. Indonesian, Asian, and Western dishes are served at Lime Restaurant & Bar, as is the breakfast that is included with some packages and features eggs, veggies, bacon, cheeses, pancakes, sausage, and rice and noodle dishes. Room service is also available. Scanning, faxing, printing, and computer services are offered at the 24/7 business center. Small events can be hosted at the on-site chapel, and massage services are available throughout the day with prior arrangement.
