Bottom Line

Unfussy and budget-friendly, the 164-room Bryce View Lodge is a popular property among tourists visiting the Bryce Canyon National Park, with a complimentary shuttle that stops on-site. Clean, stark rooms offer microwaves, mini-fridges, and tube TVs. Aside from picnic tables and a vending machine, this hotel doesn’t offer any facilities. But guests can make use of two restaurants, an indoor pool, a hot tub, and a fitness center at the sister hotel, the Best Western Ruby’s Inn, which offers pricier rooms with more modern features.

Bryce View Lodge

Scene

Large two-pearl property at the entrance to Bryce Canyon National Park

The two-pearl Bryce View Lodge is comprised of four two-story buildings with brown exteriors that blend into the desert setting. At night lamps illuminate lawns -- situated between outdoor parking -- that offer green picnic tables. Open-air, motel-style staircases lead to rooms on the second floor as there aren’t any elevators. A modest reception area features a pine front desk and a small lounge. Outside the entrance is a soda machine.

Budget prices at this motel draw tourists of all types who are heading to the Bryce Canyon National Park. Even with no facilities on-site, this hotel is often booked in advance, especially during the peak season. This property benefits from being under the same ownership as the Best Western Ruby’s Inn, which offers use of its pool, hot tub, and restaurants to guests of Bryce View.

Location

Quiet location near hiking trails in the Bryce Canyon National Park

The greatest draw of this hotel is its location on Highway 63, about two miles from the Bryce Canyon National Park. A free shuttle stops at the hotel and goes to Bryce Canyon in fives minutes, where there's horseback riding and hiking to the area’s famous Red Rock formations, or Hoodoos. Within walking distance is the Ruby's Horseback Adventures and Ebenezer's Barn and Grill with live cowboy dinner shows and ice skating in the winter months. Mountain bikes can be rented at the Bryce Canyon Car Care Center, which is in walking distance. The lodge also has a free shuttle that goes to the Bryce Canyon Airport in five minutes. The Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument can be reached in 20 minutes. St. George town is a little over two hours away by car.

Rooms

Basic, clean rooms with comfortable -- albeit lackluster -- interiors

Earth-tone interior designs aren’t fancy, but rooms here are clean, and homey enough. Laid out in a typical budget hotel fashion, rooms feature classic furniture and carpeting, and windows that face the parking lot. Set across from beds are old-fashioned 40-inch tube TVs, microwaves, and mini-fridges. Two-person dining tables are also in rooms, which each offers either two queen or king beds. All rooms come with air-conditioning, coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi. Standard-looking bathrooms have external sinks with mounted hairdryers, basic toiletries, and shower/tub combos. For families with children, cribs can be requested.

Nearby pool, hot tub, gym, gift shop, Southwest restaurants, and a meeting room

The aren’t any facilities at this property, but luckily the sister property -- the Best Western Ruby’s Inn -- is two minutes away on foot and offers well-maintained facilities. Guests have access to an indoor pool and hot tub that are surrounded by windows. The gym is also bright with natural light and equipped with modern machines and flat-screen TVs, and there's a basketball court outside. Ruby’s Inn General Store offers a nice selection of Southwestern souvenirs. Cowboy’s Buffet and Steak restaurant serves a hot buffet breakfast and Canyon Diner & Piccadilly Pizza is only open from April to October. A meeting room here can hold up to 300 people. Self-serve laundry facilities are also available. Again, all of these facilities are located at the sister property.
