Bottom Line

The four-room mid-range B&B Monte Oliveto is located in a lovely home south of the Arno River. Travelers who enjoy walking can reach the Duomo in 20 to 25 minutes, though a bus stop is nearby for those who prefer public transport. Guests love the warm hospitality as well as the hosts' knowledge of the city and its many attractions. Rooms are cozy and have balconies or terraces; one also has a kitchenette, but only two have private bathrooms. A delicious breakfast of homemade pastries, crepes, yogurt, fruits, and coffee is served daily. For a budget-friendly, intimate hotel that's closer to the city's sights, travelers should consider Locanda dei Poeti.

B&B Monte Oliveto

Scene

Quaint and elegant bed-and-breakfast with a warm, welcoming vibe

This small family-owned bed-and-breakfast is among beautiful row houses on a quiet residential street outside of Florence's center. Guests enter off the street through an iron gate and walk up several stairs to a beautiful terrace with a cafe table and potted flowers and greenery. Inside, the house is elegant and refined, but welcoming and cozy, with soft colors on the walls and decor reminiscent of a bright Italian country villa. A downy sofa and armchair encourage guests to relax in the homelike space. Common spaces are limited to the terrace at the entrance, the living room, and the garden out back where breakfast is served in the summer. The owner, Donatella, and her daughter, Nicola, provide warm hospitality that draws rave reviews. This bed-and-breakfast attracts all sorts of travelers, including couples, families, solo travelers, and groups of friends.
