The 235-room Parque Tropical is a charming upper-middle-range hotel a bit removed from the hustle and bustle of central Playa del Ingles, though directly on the promenade. The restaurant serves excellent buffet meals for breakfast and dinner, and lunch is served at the poolside grill, which gets similarly great reviews. There's no doubt that the showstopper at the 383-room, three-pearl Riu Palace Maspalomas is its setting -- right on the edge of the stunning desert-scape of the Maspalomas Dunes. The property itself has pretty touches such as glass chandeliers and colorful bougainvillea, but overall decor is old fashioned and in need of a refresh. Rooms especially feel dated with patterned carpeting and curtains, and traditional wooden furniture; however, dune views from most balconies are a real treat. Plentiful facilities include two pools, two restaurants, two bars, and a spa -- kids are not well-catered to though. This is a peaceful property for couples, but families will find more amenities for the little ones at the nearby IFA Catarina.

Aparthotel Buenos Aires is a budget-friendly property conveniently located adjacent to Yumbo Centrum shopping center and a 15-minute walk from the beach. There is nothing quite outstanding about the property, but its 150 apartments, although compact and basic, are clean and feature fully stocked kitchenettes, sofa beds, and flat-screen TVs. Air-conditioning, however, is available for a daily fee and only in some units, which is common for value hotels in the area. The pool is pleasant and heated seasonally, and has a big deck, a whirlpool, and a separate kiddy area. Most guests find the restaurant bordering on mediocre, but the poolside snack bar generally gets good reviews. Families seeking something more lively may want to compare rates at Parque Cristobal Gran Canaria, which features a full entertainment program.

The 231-room Hotel Riu Palmeras is an older chain hotel located in Playa del Ingles, a five minutes' walk from the spectacular beach and seafront promenade that stretches for miles in either direction. The hotel is well-kept and beautifully landscaped with majestic palm trees and lush gardens, and the lagoon-style pool is pristine, with sun beds and plenty of shade and space. The buffet serves a wide variety of fresh food; the only drawback with is the rigid, cruise ship-style dinner schedule. The 402-room IFA Catarina is a mid-range hotel located in the southern end of the Playa del Ingles resort. It's just a few minutes' walk to the stunning Maspalomas Dunes, as well as plenty of dining and shopping options, though the beach is 15 minutes away on foot. Well-maintained rooms have flat-screen TVs and balconies, but they also have cheap-looking patterned linens and a fee is charged for safes and Wi-Fi. The outdoor pool has separate sections and whirlpools, plus there's a kiddy pool with a waterslide. There are two restaurants, including a buffet-style eatery, and three bars, one of which has live entertainment. The nudist rooftop terrace certainly won't appeal to all though -- conservative guests might want to consider the more sedate Riu Palace Maspalomas nearby.

The 250-room Labranda Playa Bonita is a quiet mid-range hotel located a five-minute walk from the beach. In addition to a large pool with dozens of loungers and a snack bar, the hotel has a good buffet restaurant with themed dinners, and a kids’ club with daily activities. There are evening shows and poolside entertainment every morning, but the hotel is popular among older German couples and is mostly peaceful. Rooms are what give this hotel an edge over other mid-range hotels, with fresh contemporary decor in a beachy white, brown, and aquamarine palette, plus flat-screen TVs, furnished balconies, and free Wi-Fi. For a little more, sister property Labranda Marieta offers similarly appealing rooms, plus a spa and a fitness center. 

The 170-room Bronze Playa is an upper-middle-range resort with sharp contemporary interiors and a central location that's a short walk from the beach and nightlife. Clean, spacious rooms have separate seating areas, free Wi-Fi, furnished balconies, and appealing bathrooms with large walk-in showers. The pool is big and pleasant and sits next to a small bar with outdoor seating. Featuring two pools and plenty of leisure facilities for all ages, the hotel is a solid choice for both families and couples. Still, it's worth comparing rates with the Sol Barbacan Hotel, which has spacious rooms that all come with kitchenettes.

The Parque Cristobal Gran Canaria is a mid-range, extremely family-friendly complex located in the center of the Playa del Ingles resort. The 233 individual bungalows are comfortable and come with living areas and well-equipped kitchenettes, as well as outdoor areas with loungers. However, not all rooms have air-conditioning and use of in-room safes requires a fee. Otherwise, there are two swimming pool areas, one of which is dedicated to kids with waterslides and a water-jet playground. A kids' club, an excellent animation team, and mini-disco are other child-friendly features. The buffet restaurant has well-reviewed theme nights and multiple dining packages available. A spa and nightly entertainment provide something for the grown-ups, but couples are better off at the adult-only Sunprime Atlantic View Suites & Spa nearby.

Bungalows Miraflor Suites is a mid-range hotel located near nightlife at Yumbo Centrum mall. Its 135 studios and one-bedroom apartments have small kitchenettes and furnished patios, but the many extra fees (for Wi-Fi and safes, plus deposits for air-conditioning and TV remotes) make some guests feel nickel-and-dimed. The pool deck -- complete with two pools, lots of loungers, and a snack bar -- is relaxing and mostly quiet, and the on-site buffet restaurant and grill get good reviews. Additionally, guests get free access to another pool and a buffet restaurant at neighboring sister property Aparthotel Rondo. The beach isn't within walking distance, but free shuttles run several times a day. For something even more family friendly, it's worth considering Parque Cristobal Gran Canaria, though rooms are dowdier.

This hotel caters mostly to mature couples, and younger guests looking for similar features might try Playa del Sol Apartments instead.

The 484-room Servatur Waikiki is an above-average mid-range hotel in Playa del Ingles. Spacious rooms have free Wi-Fi, appealing bathrooms with large walk-in showers, and bright contemporary decor. The 400-room, mid-range Hotel Eugenia Victoria is 10 minutes from the center of the town of Playa del Ingles in an area filled with hotels, and about a half-mile from the beach, to which the hotel runs free shuttles all day. Some rooms are not as up-to-date as others; the more modern rooms are simple but breezy, with a buttery yellow color scheme and balconies. Showers, however, are tiny. Nonetheless, this property offers a solid all-inclusive value with an extensive buffet restaurant, a massive pool, and a lovely spa.
