The exterior of the Coral Star Hotel & Apartments (also known as Hotel Costa Sur) offers a touch of Mediterranean style with its whitewashed facade and stonework, but past the front doors there's not much in the way of style. The lobby is stark and dated, featuring blue- and mustard-colored tiling, large white columns, and a smattering of cushioned wicker chairs. Coral Star's outdated design and decor continues throughout the property's interiors, as seen in the pool bar's wooden chairs with blue fabric. Outside at the pool, however, there's a more pleasant brick terrace with palm trees and tan loungers. Though, due to poolside activities led by an animation team, this area can get rowdy. Because of this and other child-friendly facilities such as video games and a water park, families with children predominantly take up residence here.

Situated on Carrer des Calo, the hotel's central location is undeniably one of its best qualities. Guests will be in short walking and driving distance to many of Ibiza's best beaches, clubs, and bars. The closest beach, Punta Xinxo Beach, is a 10-minute walk away, while the more gorgeous Port des Torrent Beach is a 24-minute walk from the property. For travelers interested in partying, the Ocean Beach Ibiza beach club is just an eight-minute drive or the Savannah Beach Club is a 16-minute drive away. There is a supermarket just a two-minute walk from the hotel, plus several restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. For those flying from Ibiza Airport, this hotel is a convenient 22-minute drive away. Important to note: If you're hopping in a taxi you should know this hotel is also known as Hotel Costa Sur.

This budget aparthotel comprises two separate buildings housing apartment-style rooms, and standard hotel rooms. The blue and yellow color scheme found in the lobby continues into guest rooms through blue wood furniture, yellow headboards, patterned drapes, and blue bed linens. Rooms have either wood or tile floors, plus multiple pieces of artwork to add some charm, though it doesn't do much to mask their outdated style. A notable plus is that all rooms have furnished balconies or patios.

Unlike the nearby Los Angeles apartments, all of Coral Star's rooms are equipped with individually controlled air-conditioning. All rooms have Wi-Fi (spotty to non-existent), safes (fee), and flat-screen TV's, giving the rooms a slightly modernized touch. Apartment rooms -- both Studios and One-Bedrooms -- have kitchenettes with modern appliances such as a microwave, two-burner stove, and mini-fridge, plus cookware. Bathrooms are comfortably sized, and all have a shower/tub combos, hairdryers, and bidets. 

The hotel largely caters to families with several child-friendly facilities and having multiple pools lends a hand in avoiding feeling overcrowded. The outdoor deck has two medium-sized pools, each with a section for children, plus there's an adjacent splash pool for kids. Also near here is a small water park with a couple of slides. There are dozens of tan loungers for guests, but they often get claimed early in the morning. Guests will also find entertainment options poolside, including activities led by an animation team, a pool table, foosball, air hockey, and video games. A dated kids' club is equipped with a TV, play area, and games, plus there are computers and indoor video games next to the reception area. Coral Star lacks a gym or spa facilities.

Coral Star has one on-site restaurant and a poolside snack bar for alfresco dining. The restaurant serves buffet-style meals that receive mixed reviews, while the pool bar has various snacks and drinks available throughout the day. All-inclusive packages are available. Some guests have complained of long lines to get food and drinks.
