Febri's Hotel & Spa
Jl. Kartika Plaza,Tuban, Opposite Anvaya Resort

Febri's Hotel & Spa is a mid-range, 69-room family-friendly hotel located in the heart of Kuta. The hotel offers a rage of room types, including Family Rooms that can sleep up to five people comfortably. There are two outdoor pools, a full-service family spa, and a free hot and cold breakfast buffet. Wi-Fi is slow (even if you pay extra for the high-speed connection), and the property is not on the beach, but other than that, it's a safe, clean place to stay and is only 10 minutes from the airport.

Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel
Jl. Kartika Plaza

This upper-middle-range, 381-room hotel is located right on Kuta Beach next to the Discovery Shopping Mall.  Rooms and Villas vary, but all are clean and comfortable and some have private pools. Garden View Rooms can get noisy as there's a nightclub nearby. Features include a lagoon-style pool with a swim-up bar, a full-service spa/salon, fitness facilities, and three on-site restaurants. There's also a huge kids' club here, and the playground and dedicated kids' pool are fabulous. Adults can play too, thanks to tennis and squash courts, and a full-size chessboard.

The Kana Kuta
Jl. Setiabudi no. 8

Opened in 2013, this 92-room upscale hotel nonetheless offers budget-friendly rates, and is located near the main intersection in Kuta, close to area attractions and the airport -- but a bit far from the beach. The Kana Kuta has a nice outdoor pool, small fitness center, free area shuttle, and free breakfast. Rooms are minimally decorated but spotlessly clean, with high-quality mattresses and linens, and flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, mini-fridges, and coffeemakers; some rooms have balconies. The kids' center is a draw for families. The Kana Kuta might be slightly removed from the action, but it's good value for the money.

The Bene Hotel
Jalan Benesari

This mid-sized, mid-range hotel located in downtown Kuta -- just a five-minute walk from the beach -- has clean, modern rooms with free Wi-Fi, and most come with direct access to, or views of, a central swimming pool. The hotel also has a full-service spa with a variety of treatments and an on-site restaurant with 24-hour room service. Interconnected rooms and suites are also available, making this safe and central hotel a viable choice for families needing more space.  However, some may find the music annoying, and there's no gym or fitness center.

Kuta Seaview Boutique Resort & Spa
Jl. Pantai Kuta

This 88-room mid-range boutique hotel is across the street from Kuta Beach, and close to several good restaurants and area attractions. Rooms are clean and comfortable, and come with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, minibars, and air-conditioning. Beautiful Balinese tropical gardens line the grounds, and there is an outdoor pool with sun loungers and umbrellas. The beautifully renovated on-site spa offers a wide range of treatments, including aromatherapy, color therapy, and Ayurveda. Its Italian restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and is a good place to watch the sun go down while sipping terrific (though a tad pricey) cocktails.

Hard Rock Hotel Bali
Jl. Pantai, Banjar Pande Mas

The 418-room Hard Rock Hotel Bali -- Asia's first Hard Rock outpost -- is an upscale, family-friendly resort in the middle of bustling Kuta, just across the street from Kuta Beach. Large, contemporary rooms have iPod docks and Nespresso coffeemakers, and many have kid-pleasing perks like bunk beds and game consoles. The are multiple pools, including a kids' pool, and several on-site restaurants and bars plus a spa with treatments for adults and kids. Of course, the brand's signature rock 'n' roll memorabilia is displayed throughout, and there's plenty for music enthusiasts. That being said, rates and restaurant prices can be steep, and guests should compare rates at the Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort just up the beach.

100 Sunset Hotel Managed by Eagle Eyes
Jl. Sunset Road no. 100 C

The 101-room, 100 Sunset 2 Hotel is an upper-middle-range property in a central location with an airy feel and trendy decor. Guest rooms are air-conditioned and offer mini-fridges and flat-screen TVs, and some have balconies with lovely pool views. Flowers and plants envelop the outdoor pool, and Sata Restaurant offers a free buffet breakfast. However, some rooms present minor maintenance issues, and the pool could use a good cleaning. This is an economy version of the boutique 100 Sunset Hotel down the street and, despite its lovely grounds, sometimes falls short of its potential.

100 Sunset Boutique Hotel
Jl. Sunset Road no. 100

The 45-room 100 Sunset Boutique Hotel is an upper-middle-range property on a busy main road with attractions, a hospital, restaurants, and shops in walking distance. Pleasant, modern rooms with caramel colored walls have mini-fridges, flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, and floor-to-ceiling windows (though traffic noise can be a problem and some furniture is worn). Some rooms have kitchenettes, balconies with pool views, and two bathrooms. An outdoor pool surrounded by greenery is a plus and there is an on-site restaurant, Orange Bar and Lounge; breakfast is included with some rooms. Massages and a steam shower are available at the spa and the hotel offers a free scheduled area shuttle. Free Wi-Fi is available and there is a business center on-site, but no fitness center.

Sol House Bali Kuta by Melia Hotels International
Jl. Bakung Sari no. 81

This three-pearl, 100-room hotel is located in the heart of Kuta, a five-minute walk from Kuta Beach and opposite the Kuta Square Shopping Arcade. Rooms are mostly modern, with air-conditioning, minibars, free Wi-Fi, and private balconies. Balinese style bungalows are also available. The hotel has two outdoor pools, with a separate children's pool and a swim-up bar serving fresh cocktails and cold beers. The a la carte restaurant serves local and Western cuisines, and a generous breakfast buffet for a fee. There's a full-service spa with a hot tub and massage treatments, but no fitness center. Room service is available around the clock, and Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. Travelers preferring an oceanfront hotel should consider the Discovery Kartika Plaza instead, which adds a fitness center and kids' club.

Waringin Homestay
Jl. Poppies I Gang Sorga no. 9

Waringin Homestay is a 22-room budget crash pad off Poppies II, less than a 10-minute walk from Kuta Beach and five minutes from Jalan Legian, which is home to Bali's largest nightclubs. The hotel is popular with surfers and backpackers on a shoestring budget, in Kuta to enjoy the beach and nightlife. Facilities are limited to a swimming pool and breakfast. Rooms have balconies, but are aged and worn. Most rooms are equipped ceiling fans and cold water, and you shouldn't expect TVs or safes either. However, higher-category rooms do add air-conditioning and hot water showers. Free Wi-Fi is only available in the lobby. For travelers with a bit more cash to spare, Kuta Lagoon Resort is a worthy upgrade, with more modern rooms and better facilities.
