Hotel MS Maestranza sits tall atop a cafe and ice cream parlor. The marble floors and metal columns of the lobby give it a feel of old elegance, which some might consider dated. The on-site restaurant has wooden floors and wraparound glass windows, and the elegant, Art Deco-inspired Camarote Bar is a nice spot for cocktails. The restaurant serves such classics as Basque-style Cod and Iberian Pork, but also innovates with Mediterranean dishes and seasonal menus. The hotel has a spa with a hot tub located on the roof in a windowed room offering city views, and there’s an outdoor terrace with lounge chairs, where guests can take in views of Malaga Cathedral. 

Hotel MS Maestranza is located on a main road leading to Malagueta Beach and port, with its shopping and entertainment venues. Some restaurants, bars, and shops are near the hotel, and more are on Calle Marques de Larios, which is a 15-minute walk through a pretty tree-shaded park. The hotel is also next to a bullring (bull-fighting season generally runs from spring through fall). The historic center, Picasso Museum, and Malaga Cathedral are all within a 15-minute walk, and Malaga Airport is a 40-minute bus ride away. 

Rooms at Hotel MS Maestranza have small, angled balconies, parquet floors, light walls, and floor-length curtains. Decor includes Picasso replicas and furniture modeled after the artist’s Paris era, including retro wooden desks and night stands. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and minibars. Bathrooms have shower/tub combinations, glass counters, and add thoughtful touches like makeup mirrors and generous amenity kits including shoeshine and shaving items. Superior Rooms come with hydro-massage tubs.

Hotel MS Maestranza offers a breakfast for a fee, which some guests complain is too high for what's offered. The hotel's restaurant serves traditional fare as well as innovative and seasonal Mediterranean cuisine, and the Camarote Bar is an elegant spot for cocktails. The spa is free for guests, and includes Turkish baths, a sauna, and a hot tub in a rooftop area with views. A rooftop terrace offers lounge chairs and massages for a fee.
