The Kunja Villas & Spa
Jalan Lebak Sari 8 Petitenget

The Kunja Villas & Spa is a luxury property that consists of 18 private villas with beautiful gardens and private pools. The spacious villas have large living rooms, full kitchens, dining areas, and massive, modern bathrooms with showers and soaking tubs that are partially open-air. Free made-to-order breakfast is provided daily, as are daily fresh fruit arrangements and afternoon tea. Though the property lacks a restaurant, bar, or fitness center, it offers a host of conveniences including spa services and free airport transfers. A popular wedding venue and honeymoon getaway, the hotel also has a beautiful wedding chapel on-site. For something with an on-site restaurant, travelers might want to consider the Villa Kubu or the Villa Seminyak Estate & Spa instead.

Seminyak Square Hotel
Jl. Kayu Aya

It doesn't get much more central than the three-pearl Seminyak Square Hotel, located right in its eponymous shopping complex. There are plenty of dining options in the immediate area, plus the hotel has its own small cafe. There's not much more in terms of features, but the hotel does have a lovely rooftop pool. Guest rooms are spacious and equipped with flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, tea/coffee facilities, and free Wi-Fi, plus some have balconies. Two- and three-bedroom apartments are also available and these units come with large living rooms with dining areas and kitchenettes. The beach is just a five-minute walk away. Guests seeking something beachfront might want to check out the Pelangi Bali Hotel -- but rates are pricier.

PING Hotel Seminyak Bali
Jl. Camplung Tanduk no. 28

PING Hotel Seminyak Bali is a contemporary three-and-a-half-pearl hotel situated just off the busy Jalan Camplung Tanduk, a short walk from shopping and dining. It's also just a five-minute walk to the beach. Many of the 51 rooms are compact, but decor is sharp and modern, with lots of moody colors and wood paneling. All come with minibars, free Wi-Fi, and flat-screen TVs, and some have balconies overlooking the pool. The outdoor pool is situated in an inner courtyard between the open-air lobby and open-air restaurant and bar. There's also a rooftop bar and fitness center with a small selection of mostly cardio equipment. Travelers who want bigger rooms and a sunnier pool might consider the nearby Artemis Villa and Hotel, though rates there will be higher.

The Dipan Resort Petitenget
Jalan Petitenget Gang Taman Ganesha No. 1

The Dipan Resort Petitenget is a three-and-a-half-pearl boutique hotel located in downtown Petitenget, within walking distance from the beach, popular nightclubs, bars, and restaurants. Unfortunately, the tradeoff for this prime spot is noise from nearby nightclubs, especially on weekends. There are 14 contemporary, beach-chic room types available, from simple one-bedroom suites to three-bedroom villa complexes that contain private pools, garden patios, and living rooms. We did spot some wear in the rooms when we visited. There's a long main pool surrounded by flowering gardens, plus a small spa and a cafe that adjoins the hotel lobby. As an alternative, the stylish villas at the nearby Maca Villas are a big upgrade from Dipan Resort, though they are pricier.

The Bali Dream Villa Seminyak
Jl. Bidadari no. 108x

The Bali Dream Villa Seminyak is composed of two, upscale, all-villa properties with exquisite gardens. The 30 modern -- yet authentic -- Balinese Villas have private pools, kitchenettes, open-air living spaces, and lovely stone bathrooms, but some get loud exterior noise and there have been complaints of mosquitos. Both the outdoor pool and the on-site restaurant/bar receive good reviews, and there's a full-service spa with open-air bathrooms. Other amenities include free Wi-Fi, loaner bikes, and an area shuttle, but airport transfers cost extra and there are no fitness or business facilities. The nearby Ize Seminyak has a rooftop pool bar and a fitness center.

Courtyard by Marriott Bali Seminyak Resort
Jl. Camplung Tanduk No 103 SP, Dhyana Pura, Bali

Courtyard Bali Seminyak Resort is a four-pearl resort at the southern end of central Seminyak, a five-minute walk from Seminyak Beach, shopping, dining, and bars. It features three outdoor swimming pools, one with a swim-up bar. A kids' club, fitness center, and full-service spa are also on site, and the resort features an excellent breakfast at its Indonesian/international restaurant. Unfortunately, the kids' club isn't free. The 287 contemporary and spacious rooms come with minibars, free Wi-Fi, iPod docks, and flat-screen TVs. All have balconies or terraces, and some open to the pool. Couples who want a more intimate and quiet boutique hotel might opt for the nearby PING Hotel Seminyak Bali, where rates are lower and rooms are more compact.

Seminyak Garden
Jl. Raya Petitenget 7

The 121-room favehotel Umalas is a mid-range property on the more tranquil outskirts of Seminyak, Bali. Contemporary rooms with eye-catching pink tropical murals have flat-screen TVs and free bottled water plus modern tile bathrooms with rainfall showerheads. Some rooms also have views of gorgeous emerald rice paddies beyond the pool, however, most rooms are small and the beach and Seminyak Square take over 20 minutes to reach on foot (five minutes by car). There is a pool and restaurant/bar on-site and a formidable breakfast is served, though it's only included with some bookings. Guests looking to stay closer to the beach may want to consider chic The Haven Seminyak Hotel & Suites, though the price point is higher.

Puri Dewa Bharata Hotel & Villas
Jl. Nakula no. 11, Nakula Street number 11

Puri Dewa Bharata is a 48-room, three-pearl hotel located along bustling Nakula Street, a 15-minute walk from Double Six Beach and Seminyak shopping. The tropical setting is enhanced by buildings with traditional Balinese style. Room options include spacious two-story villas with thatched roofs, as well as standard hotel rooms. All are equipped with modern amenities, but interiors in some are poorly maintained and dated, with peeling paint, tired decor, and musty smelling bathrooms. Facilities are limited to an outdoor swimming pool and a small all-day restaurant. Tour and motorbike rentals, plus in-room massage treatments are offered as well. Parking and Wi-Fi are free. As an alternative, the Puri Cendana is slightly more expensive but is only a five-minute walk to the beach. Rooms there are also more pleasant.

Bali Ginger Suites & Villa - Unique Boutique Seminyak
Gg Ginger, Jl. Drupadi II

A favorite of couples and women traveling solo, Bali Ginger Suites is a cozy boutique property. The 10-room, mid-range hotel is located a 15-minute walk from the beach and within a short walk of restaurants. Suites are bright and colorful, with super-comfy beds, and open to furnished terraces/balconies around a pool. The courtyard pool is small and sunny, in-room spa services are available, and the free breakfast includes a nice number of options plus local Indonesian coffee. While the atmosphere is intimate and relaxed, Ginger Suites lacks extra features. Villa Seminyak Estate & Spa has a full-service restaurant and comprehensive spa, plus a larger pool, but rates are considerably higher. Mutiara Bali Boutique Resort & Villas is a more affordable option with features like pizza restaurant.

Desamuda Village
Jl. Raya Basangkasa no. 30A

Desamuda Village is a three-pearl hotel located in downtown Seminyak, amid great dining, shopping, and nightlife options. However, it's a 20-minute walk from Seminyak Beach. The hotel features 28 rooms ranging from affordably priced one-bedroom suites to private pool villas. All feature clean and bright interiors, while villa compounds have an open-plan design plus plunge pools, kitchens, living rooms, and elegant semi open-air bathrooms. Though mostly well maintained, the style is somewhat dated. Facilities are decent for a hotel in this price range and include two swimming pools and a reasonably priced restaurant, but no spa. Guests who'd prefer to stay closer to the beach may want to check out Samaja Beachside Villas instead, where rates are similar but features are even more limited.
