The Premier Inn is situated in a window-filled, industrial building with a flat facade and concrete, window, and brick elements. Inside, white walls and dark wood furniture are tastefully combined with rich purple accents in the hotel chain’s trademark style. The lobby offers a few chairs and tables, vending machines, a large reception desk, and lots of natural light, and while the decor is somewhat generic, the space is spacious, modern, and well-maintained, much like the guest rooms themselves. During tennis season, guests are largely headed to the Wimbledon tennis courts, but throughout the year clientele range from those staying in the area business or personal reasons, and tourists who are willing to make the trek into London in exchange for more space at a better price.

The Premier Inn is situated on a busy main commercial road in Greater London’s South Wimbledon, about a half hour from Central London. South Wimbledon is largely composed of retail and residential areas, and the hotel shares its building with a Virgin Active Fitness Club and sits across the street from a grocery store and shopping complex. While there are several eateries and many shops within walking distance, the hotel is a half hour from central London via public transportation, and the Colliers Wood Station is an eight-minute walk from the hotel. But the route in to the city is fairly direct and guests prepared for the hike don't seem to mind it. The hotel is also about 10 minutes from the Wimbledon Tennis Courts by car. Parking is available for a fee at a car park right next to the hotel.

Rooms at the Premier Inn London Wimbledon South are modern, stylish, and well-maintained, if not somewhat generic in the way of a standard chain hotel. Cream-colored walls meet gray wall-to-wall carpeting, while rich purple textiles pair well with dark wood furniture. The hotel’s location just a half hour outside of central London gives guests a lot more real estate, and rooms are downright spacious compared to London’s city hotels. The Standard Rooms feature king size beds (Premier’s well-reviewed “Hypnos” beds are one of the chain’s main selling points), long dark wood desks, 40” flat-screen TVs, chaise lounges, and mirrors and wardrobes. Amenities include air-conditioning, tea- and coffee-making facilities, hairdryers, and free Wi-Fi, but no mini-fridges, telephones, or safes. Bathrooms have brown wood floors, white walls, large mirrors, and purple-tiled accent walls in combination shower/tubs, which are equipped with hair and body wash dispensers. Rooms are well-insulated, though lower rooms can get some traffic noise. Guests suggest choosing higher rooms, but they warn that the elevator is slow. Some guests also complain that the free Wi-Fi is slow, and that the extra fee for premium Wi-Fi doesn’t seem to speed things up. 

Thyme Restaurant is the hotel’s own restaurant and bar, and it’s the most stylishly decorated part of the hotel with patterned purple accent walls, brown wood tables, drum pendant and sconce lights, and chic slipper chairs. Guests find the food satisfying, appealing for all ages, and affordable for the area. The bar offers an evening happy hour. The morning breakfast doesn’t come standard with the room rate, though kids eat free and guests find it fairly priced with a good selection. The front desk is open 24 hours.
