Hotel Prinzregent is an upper-middle-range hotel nestled in a pale-yellow former post office with terra-cotta roof tiles that dates back to the 17th century. Outdoor spaces include a seasonal beer garden filled with trees and outdoor seating and a stone terrace where guests can take meals on pleasant days. Inside, public spaces have classic Bavarian decor that, while elegant, may strike some as dated. In the lobby, a large wooden front desk faces traditional seating areas furnished with antique blue chairs and pale-yellow camelback couches. Crown molding in the ceilings circle floral light fixtures laced with gilded leaves. The restaurant has an elegant vibe as well, with white tablecloths, wooden floors and cabinets, booths with royal-green padding, and chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. The bar takes a more masculine approach, all wood-paneled walls and leather bar stools. The hotel attracts a mix of business travelers and leisure guests, including families with children. 

Although there are some restaurants and shops on surrounding streets, the Hotel Prinzregent's suburban location might not suit all guests. That said, most of Munich’s popular sights are just under a 20-minute drive away, making this hotel ideal for those who don’t mind being away from the hustle and bustle. There's also a bus stop two minutes away on foot and an S-Bahn station that takes seven minutes on foot to reach. The hotel offers a free shuttle within five kilometers of the property. It’s a 30-minute drive to Munich International Airport. 

Hotel Prinzregent has 91 rooms, all furnished in a traditional -- and dated -- style with wooden furniture, large beds, swing-arm brass lamps, and old-fashioned green carpet or wooden floors. But some may find charm in the outdated details, such as armchairs adorned in needlepoint fabric or heavy wooden wardrobes. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, minibars, air-conditioning (not found in a lot of Munich hotels), kettles, and safes, and Wi-Fi is free for one device. Women-Friendly Rooms add perks such as fresh-cut flowers, device docking station, hair-straightening irons, and extra toiletries and cosmetic items in the bathrooms. Suites and Studios are generally more spacious than rooms and have living areas. Bathrooms are clean and well-maintained, with white and tan tiles, walk-in showers, Pure Herbs toiletries, and hairdryers. Studios and Suites add separate tubs. 

Hotel Prinzregent has amenities to satisfy vacationers and business travelers alike. There’s no pool, but the hotel does offer a wellness area with a small gym with cardio machines, saunas, and steam baths. While it's free to use the gym, it costs a fee to use the sauna and steam facilities. There are plenty of dining options available on-site, including a varied breakfast with hot and cold items (for a fee). Restaurant Prinzregent offers dinner with locally sourced products, while the bar has light bites and drinks throughout the day. Room service is available, but it costs extra. In the summer, there’s a lovely outdoor terrace and a cheerful beer garden with seating and a play structure for children. The hotel also has four meeting rooms and a public laptop and printer, plus on-site bicycle rentals. Parking is available, but it costs extra.
