Bottom Line

The 22-room Hotel Monaco offers a homey getaway at affordable prices in a prime location close to the Munich central train station. The hotel has a lovely breakfast room with gingham tablecloths and a nice buffet. Homey rooms feature traditional wood furniture, flat-screen TVs, and private bathrooms (some rooms have shared bathrooms). Rooms, though, do not have air-conditioning, which most guests can overlook in exchange for the competitive prices. If you’re looking for in-room air-conditioning, try the King’s Hotel First Class.

Hotel Monaco

Scene

A budget hotel with country charm and a lovely breakfast room

The Hotel Monaco provides a homey interior and modern exterior. A small marquee that reads “Hotel” marks the entrance, and an intercom buzzes guests into the hotel. The ground-floor lobby has stone tiles and narrow hallways. The inside of the hotel provides a bit of south German charm with eclectic decorations.

Green carpeting and framed angel artwork mounted on peach walls goes up a lovely hallway staircase with iron railings. An old-fashioned elevator is available near the stairs. Pops of colorful artificial flowers and ivy are draped on wall decor and furnishings in the hallways. Faux, red roses hang around the front desk that is located on the fifth floor. A lovely old-fashioned breakfast room offers a large buffet in bright room. Wood floors, red checkered table cloths, floral wreaths, wooden wall decor, crown molding, and white lace curtains create an overall charming and relaxed atmosphere.
