Bottom Line

Bill & Coo Suites and Lounge is a luxury hotel known for its discreet high-end services and its popular restaurant. It's isolated on a quiet hillside outside of Mykonos Town, with little in the area aside from the beach, but creates its own scene with outside visitors coming for the food and drinks at its stylish alfresco restaurant. It's expensive, but includes free breakfast and delivers on the impeccable atmosphere expected of a hotel in this category. Its large stylish rooms and posh outdoor infinity pool all overlook the sea. Few other hotels in the area match its combination of calm and luxury, but it's worth comparing the rates at the similarly positioned Boheme, whose elegant rooms have a hip decor with industrial touches.

Bill & Coo Suites and Lounge

Scene

Small, stylish hotel with a discreet atmosphere

The Bill & Coo Suites and Lounge, whose name is a reference to whispered endearments, caters to well-heeled travelers seeking a quiet holiday and a bit of privacy in a place that has a bit of its own buzz. Couples can enjoy a variety of services via private assistants, while looking forward to mingling at the popular alfresco restaurant and bar that often attracts outside visitors. Modern, minimalist architecture suits the posh vibe, without sacrificing traditional elements like unadorned exposed stone, which is well balanced with the natural landscape. The small lobby has a chic, rustic look with whitewashed wood beam ceilings, white floors, and streamlined white furnishings that counter the raw, gray stone walls. An infinity pool is at the hotel's center, with covered spots for dining and drinking, all facing the sea.

Location

On a hillside at the southern edge of town, overlooking the sea

The hotel is located on far southern end of historic and culturally vibrant Mykonos, just under a 20-minute walk from the town center, far enough to avoid the crowds entirely, but close enough for determined guests to reach on foot (it's a steep uphill climb on the way back ). There are plenty of restaurants, bars, boutiques, and galleries there, which are all crowded in the high season. The island bus stops nearby for access to town, for those without cars. The closest tourist beach, Megali Ammos, is 15 minutes away on foot. Mykonos Island National Airport and the ferry are each within a 10-minute drive from the hotel.

Rooms

Large modern suites with furnished balconies and sea views

There are a lot of small variations in layout and furnishings between the 30 suites here, and seven different room types in all, ranging from the standard Sea View Suites, to Deluxe Suites with outdoor hot tubs, to uber-luxurious options with their own private plunge pools. Suites start at 38 square meters (409 square feet); all fit two guests, except for the two-bedroom Superior Suites, which fit four. All have furnished balconies facing the sea, and modern decor with pristine white walls playing off of rough exposed stone and wood accents. Minimalist wood furnishings include desks and sitting areas with couches and coffee tables.

Nespresso machines, minibars, and iPod docks come standard along with flat-screen TVs. Free Wi-Fi is included throughout. The bathrooms have twin vanities and large walk-in showers with built-in benches and handheld showerheads. Some lack privacy with only glass doors separating the toilets from the bedrooms, and others add separate soaking tubs. Twice daily housekeeping is standard.

Features

Outdoor infinity pool, airy restaurant and lounge bar, personal assistants, and free breakfast

The heart of the hotel is built around its outdoor infinity pool, which has luxuriously plush loungers and shade umbrellas facing the sea. It's not the biggest sundeck around, but is generally large enough for the small number of guests here. On the periphery, the restaurant and lounge bar has covered outdoor seating, set on a wooden deck that's partially composed of frosted glass panels. Much of the seating is on comfortable benches shaded from the sun, and there's a proper bar with seat-back stools too. The restaurant serves inspired Mediterranean cuisine, with a touch of international gastronomy, using authentic seasonal products from Mykonos. The free a la cart breakfast includes homemade breads, grilled meats, vegetables, omelettes, and fresh fruit.

There's no spa, but massages can be booked on-site. Guests can also request personal trainers and there's a tiny fitness room with some cardio machines. Personal shoppers and assistants are also available upon request.
