The most unique aspect of this hotel is its quirky interior design, which stands in direct contrast to the building's historic nature. Built in 1890 by Franz Xaver Kroisi, the great-grandfather of the current owners, the hotel has survived two world wars. Interiors, though, are anything but Old World. This mid-range design hotel has both a contemporary and timeless vibe, with an original grade-listed staircase and wallpaper from the 1960s, alongside plenty mod-cons and pops of contemporary design. The hotel is located in a residential area, near several bars, restaurants and nightclubs, and has convenient public transport links to reach major tourist attractions. As there's little in the way of on-site features, though, most guests are out and about for the day, returning only to crash at night. Expect to see mostly couples here, and a few business travelers as well. 

Located in the Haidhausen district, this hotel offers an ideal base for exploring Munich's lively streets, with several restaurants, bars, and shops nearby. From the hotel, it’s a one-minute walk to the Ostbahnhof Munich East train station, and a four-minute walk to the S-Bahn station. It’s a nine-minute walk to the Town Hall concert venue and convention center. On the S-train, it’s a six-minute journey to Marienplatz, the city's main square, and a 12-minute journey to the Deutsches Museum, the world's largest museum of science and technology. There are several places to eat nearby, including Il Cigno, a family-run Italian restaurant that’s a three-minute walk away. Munich International Airport is 37-minute drive away depending on traffic, or around a half-hour by train. 

These single and double rooms have lots of personality, with quirky design touches including botanically inspired wallpaper, patterned curtains, and bold modern art. Light wood-veneer furniture and white bed linens make rooms feel bright and clean. All have small desks that are large enough for a laptop. Features include flat-screen TVs, electronic safes, free Wi-Fi, and telephones. Some rooms have French doors that open to views of neighboring buildings. Free bottled water and bags of sweets are provided. Junior Suites have living areas with leather sofas and armchairs, coffee tables, and additional storage. Modern en-suite bathrooms are minimalistic, with tiled walls and floors, floating sinks, spacious showers, and hairdryers. White Company toiletries and fluffy towels are provided. It’s worth noting that the rooms have no air-conditioning, and street noise might an issue for travelers who open bedroom windows.

This attractive design hotel has limited facilities, though no less than similar hotels in central Munich. The minimal restaurant serves a continental breakfast, including eggs, bread, and fruit from local suppliers (for a fee). A communal lounge with colorful armchairs, offers a pleasant space to relax before or after a day of sightseeing. Free non-alcoholic drinks and nibbles are served at reception, and there’s an underground car park for guest use. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.
